Most front load washers don't use a belt.
The washer making a load noise in spin is most likely a bad rear bearing and a big job and expensive. If you want more info send me the model number.

SOURCE: "howling" noise during spin cycle (still there after changing burned off belt)

Travioso, there was two service flashes out on this model concerning the seal and bearing which means they had an issue with this washer. The howling noise you are hearing is the bearing and will need the new designed triple seal and bearing kit. This should be covered under your warranty, I believe it is 5 years. The numbers for the service flashes are TDL-0048A-B. Call Maytag and inquire about these service flashes, these should be covered. Catriver.

remove the top access panel 3 screws in top rear.
now look around and push on the drum from top
it has suspension shocks and springs like your car they should resist any movements.

run it with the top open what do you see/hear and where
look under the rubber flap in front did anything get under the tub

SOURCE: WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin

sound like the contact points on the timer are probebly dirty or arched to where they are not making good contact. you can take and clean them with a piece of emery cloth if you are mechanically inclined and can take the timer apart. Also there's a set of contacts down by the motor ti check too.
Good Luck,

SOURCE: Washer drum shakes excessively during fast spin

y shaped piece that contains the spindle that attatches to the basket and allows it to spin is corroded and cracking. you can't buy just the spindle bracket, you must buy the basket too. you'll be buying the front part of the drum too, if you wait to long.

The bearings have collapesd due to the seal going faulty. If bearings can be accessed to from the outside, it is possible you could do the repair. If big bearing and seal is accessed from the inside, suggest tech. do it as it gets dirty and a lot more complex.

The washer is making a very loud noice and i noticed slight smell of burning during cycle! The drum seems very unstable too! Could this be the drive belt? Is this fixable or am i looking at a new...

Sounds like the main drum bearings have failed.
Spin the drum by hand from inside, if it feels rough, or it is noisy or rumbling, then the bearings habve fauiled.
Probably better to buy a new washer.

During the spin cycle basket vibrates very badly - very rough

I had a similar problem. During the final high spin and there was POW and the drum went funky eating into the plastic. I opened the back of the washer and look things over,.The belt for spinning was intact. I set the washer on a drain/spin option and watched from the front and back. While watching the pulley on the drum and could tell there was a hiccup as it went around. I pulled the pulley off and put on a new pulley. The new pulley was going in a perfect circle to spin the drum. It's not a hard repair, just need a little muscle to loosen the nut holding the pulley on and the same muscle to tighten the nut as much as possible. Hope this helps.

Machine drum makes loud noice in the spin cycle. Makes the same sound that a top-loading machine makes when it goes out of balance. Help.

  • Hi,
  • Try these:
  1. Balance the load
  2. Level the machine
  3. Inspect the water pump for a blockage
  4. Inspect the coupling
  5. Inspect the transmission
  6. Adjust the drive belt tension
  7. Check the motor bearings
  8. Check the drum brakes

Roper Washer spinning cycle problem

This happened on mine as well. I determined that the clutch was bad. These are not belt driven but rather direct drive with a clutch/brake that controls the spins and agitate functions. Try washing an empty or very small load (like tshirts and underclothes) and see if that helps. ALso look underneath to see if there is any oil on the ground if so you most likley will need to replacet he cltuch mechanism... not an easy task for do it yourselfer!
