Question about HP Photosmart R717 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Jammed Lense) My camera was dropped (short distance) and the lense/soom seems to be jammed. The camera will not completely turn own. When I turn it on, the lense tries to adjust and it automatically shuts down. Any quick fixes for this?

Re: Jammed Lense)

Make sure the lense is not bent. If so, gently straighten it. This worked with mine.

Camera got dropped now it won't turn on.

The only way to sort it properly is to dismantle and reassemble. Because it has sustained damage you will have to check for any internal damage caused by the drop. Now the lens is jammed open would suggest the guide pins have either come out of their slots preventing movement or something is obstructing them.

Jammed lens

When you turn it off, does the lense go up and down. If yes good news. while turning the camera off press on the lense very softly (up and down motion) until the lense retracts 100% or almost 100%. you may have to try a few times. if almost 100% retracted, push the lense a little harder in, untill it retracts all the way in. Turn it back on, it should work now. If you do not keep your lense clean you get that problem. After you droped it, some mechanical part on the lense may have broken or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense inspect the parts, clean them and puth them back together.

My camera was dropped and now the lense is jammed in. and it will turn on and say lense erro. and it will shut off. is there anything that i can do with out having to go to a shop?

I suggest you call Nikon Support and ask them to replace your lens motor. If your under warranty, you might as well get a replacement. Otherwise, you can ask a repair shop to replace your lense.
