Hi, I have a Sony VAIO K-25 laptop with Windows XP Home. Last weekend, my laptop was switched on overnight, and in the morning, the display colors on the desktop screen went bright white and fuzzy. I have tried to reduce the brightness to the minimum, and also tried to change the display settings on the Control Panel to different colors, but am not having much luck. I can barely view the icons on my taskbar, it is very bright and white. I am not sure I am describing this very well, but bottomline, it appears that the color contrast does not work anymore. Can anyo
    ne help? thanks in advance.

I turned it off for a day and back on. It's working now somehow.
Maybe the monitor got overheater or something.

Can you tell us how this happened??

When you start nothing is being displayed then it might be due to your video card not working! If it gets stucked when you r working then their might be problem with your video driver!

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

Hi, I have a asus VW192DR lcd monitor but it cannot open properly, only mixed colors, is there any chance that i can fix it on my own? pls help.

ASUS DISPLAYS are pretty FUZZY, HARD TO REPAIR but also HD and VIVID. ASUS DISPLAYS are usually HARD SEALED from the inside. Try paying it a rest and RESTARTING . Doesn't work? , DETACH the STAND to make it easy to work. The SCREWS to OPEN an LCD MONITOR are usually near the VGA/DVI/HDMI CONNECTORS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Movement of my desk caused the monitor (XG-91D) to lose some of the colors. The screen only displays greens, blue, brown, gray and black tones. Readjusting the screen temporarily helped but it goes out...

Try a new cable. If any of the pins is slightly bent the monitor will not receive the correct signal to display. I would recommend a new cable even if you don'y see anything wrong with the old one.

How to change the 'Contrast' and 'Brightness' on the monitor screen

Bootup your computer and display your Windows Desktop. Make sure yourmonitor stays on for at least half an hour before you begin, so that itis properly warmed up.

Seta pure black image on the monitor so you can adjust the brightness. Toget a pure black image, do the following: Choose Start, then ControlPanel, then Display. This will open the Display Properties dialog box.Click the down arrow next to the representation of the desktop color inthe Color field. Choose black from the color palette, then click OK.

Maximizethe Brightness control on your monitor, then slowly reduce it until theblack of the image perfectly matches the black at the edge of thephysical screen. This puts the brightness at the proper setting.

Open a screen with a plain white background soyou can adjust the contrast. One of the best ways to do this is to open aword-processing document without any text in it. Gradually reduce the contrastsetting of your monitor until the white area of the screen begins to lookslightly gray or off-white. Then gradually increase the contrast until thewhite area on your monitor is pure white. This will give you the proper whitebalance. Now you've got your monitor ready for peak performance.

Hope this may help you solve your problem.

Fuzzy, unstable display

This sounds like a high-voltage power supply problem, which would need to be diagnosed by an experienced computer or electronics technician.

Check to see if there is a small focus knob on the back. If so try turning it back and forth three or four times to "clean" it....then adjust for correct focus.

Symptoms like this can also be caused by accumulated dust inside the monitor.

Severe gradient issues / problems with darker grays

So your sure when you go into the monitor settings, and color, it is set to like 9300k or something? It probably isn't the monitor, because the video games you said display just fine.
