I turned it off for a day and back on. It's working now somehow.

Re: monitor is gray color and fuzzy.

Can you tell us how this happened??

When you start nothing is being displayed then it might be due to your video card not working! If it gets stucked when you r working then their might be problem with your video driver!

The screen replacement is defective or the part number is wrong, check the part number on the back of the original screen and compare it against the the one you replaced, it should match.

Screen now is pale green and print is fuzzy

You are probably right. The inverter supplies the voltage needed to light up the screen and power the lcd. If I were to tackle this repair I would sub a laptop monitor in place of yours and then troubleshoot the monitor. Inverters have a fairly high failure rate

Horrible fuzzy display on my external lcd tv monitor - sadness

You need to change the resolution and colour quality under graphics properties on second monito. Put the settings back under the advanced tab, your just pushing new monitor over its limits. You dont need to have the same resolution set as your PC screen. Hope this works for you.

If you have access to an external monitor, you might want to hook that up to your laptop and try it. If the display looks good on the external monitor (which I would suspect that it will) then, you may have a loose LCD cable, a worn cable or a bad LCD display. Try reseating the connector. With the LCD cover off & power on, carefully wiggle and flex the cable and see if there is any change in the display. If not, your LCD display is probably going bad on you.
Hope the rest of your day goes better!
