1. you might have a virus
2. You might have to check the signal of the itouch
A solution that you should try which will most likely help because this happened to my sisters itouch and it connected to the internet
1. Go to settings
2. Tap on Wifi
3. Go to the option that lets you manually put in the name of the connection, the connection type, and the password to the connection.
So again, type in the exact name of the wireless connection,
Pick the connection type (WEP, WPA, ect.)
then put in the password.
It should help(I almost know that it will help).
This error means you're not connected to an internet-enabled network. If you want to surf the internet, you'll need to connect to a wireless network; you do that by going into Settings, then Wi-Fi.
If the WiFi option is off, press it to turn it on and it'll scan for near by networks. Once you find one that is unprotected, or one to which you know the password, you can connect to it by pressing its name. Once you connect, if that network allows for internet access, you can surf.
If you don't have any wireless networks within range, you can always set one up yourself. You can do it either with a wireless router, which will give you a permanent access point you can use whenever you feel like, or using a laptop - but that's difficult, not permanent, and has a very short signal range (Though it's free if you already have a laptop with a wi-fi card).
Go into your itouch in settings and wifi. make sure your wifi switch is on see if your wireless network is showing and choose it. enter your wep key and it should connect. if your ipod is not seeing your network click other enter the name of your network and the wep key from the bottom of the router and see if it joins. good luck
From what it sounds like, you are working in a Windows environment. What you are trying to do is bridge your wireless ad-hoc network with your wired network connection. Windows does not support this method of connection even though they have the option for "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection". That would only work if you had two ethernet cards in your system, and that option bridges one ethernet port with the other. It doesn't support bridging to your wireless adapter.
Most laptop wireless cards do not support an "infrastructure" mode, which would turn your notebook into a mobile router. Instead they create an ad-hoc network completely separate from your wired network. There are some commercial pieces of software that can bridge the two, though I've never been able to make them work.
The easiest route would be to go to Target or a local electronic store and pick up a wireless router. You would take the ethernet connection from your laptop and attach it to the router. Then your laptop and iPod would both connect to the internet through the router.
I had the same prob with a LinkSys. Puzzling for sure. Finally, I went to a Crystal restaurant (hot spot) and it connected. So, I knew it wuz my router. Finally stumbled on to the prob. I had to key in the 605 MAC address in the router table. Now, it works beautifully. You can find your MAC address under "Settings." Hope this helps!
don't let the iTouch connect to the wi-fi network it detected automatically - try setting up a new wi-fi network from scratch.
the setup screens will ask for network name (the SSID) the security protocol (probably WPA-PSK if you are having all this trouble) and the password (pre shared key)
From the available networks that you can see, select your own wireless network name or SSID first. If the SSID is secured (one with a lock symbol), you should enter the password to connect to the SSID. Once you are connected, try connecting to the Internet.
