Question about Tascam 202MKIII Single Dual Cassette Deck

Teac W-450R Belt Configuration

I have the service manual but for the life of me can't figure out how the three belts configure on the five pulleys.

Is there a diagram somewhere that's clearer than the service manual?

Any help is appreciated!

How do I get fast forward & rewinds to work on my Teac W450-R dual cassette deck..?

Check the belts, inside the unit you should see a rubber belt which is what pulls the tape fast forward or rewind. Some belts with time get loose and slip, they can also break and fall off which will not let you fast forward or rewind.
Open your cassette player and look where the plastic pulleys are located and check for the belts, they might not be broken at all but very loose and slip on the plastic pulley.

Teac a103 cassette deck. I want to know how much of this thing do I have to dismantle to replace the belts?? the online manuals ****!

It is not all that hard. You need to take the transport out of the chassis and then remove the screws required to get the motor mount and thrust plate off of the rear area of the flywheel. I have done them many times at Teac in the Chicago Factory Service. You need to get the right belt first. There may be more than one belt to replace in the unit such as one in the front near the counter. I can fix it but it might not be as cheap as you might think. I have been servicing Teac decks for 40 years so far.

Getting belts for TEAC W-890R. I'm currently sitting here a home with a DEAD TEAC A-350 Cassette Deck -- DEAD because I was told you can get belts for it (I have since found out that is is NOT true and...

That is the state of conditions at Teac and they don't care about tape customer anymore. If you need belts for any unit it is simple to find the belt kit at Marrs Communications. They do not have he cheapest prices bu the you don't know what size you need and Fred took time to find his out. If you want to do it the other way you download a copy of the PRB cross reference manual and look up the belt type that goes into your deck. The you go to Ken's Electronics and order the belts online. This does not come with instruction of how to put them in. In my many years as a Technician working on all kinds of tape decks I have never seen an instruction to put belts in a machine- it is assumed that if you can not figure this out that you probably do not belong in the machine. In cases where belts are not in place sometimes the parts layout diagram can help you determine how they go in.

I have a TEAC A-350 Cassette Deck, and has been dead for years. It needs belts. I was told that belts were not available for it. I have since found some belts meant for the A-350, but have not got a clue...

The belt installation is not often indicated in the service manual but comes from years of experience of working on these. I worked on a few of these at Chicago Factory Service (Teac) but it has bee such a long ime I can not describe it from memory. You need to go to Hi Fi Engine and see if you can get a free Pdf servioce manual that might help you otherwise it needs to be seen by a Technician who will clean other parts, lubricate and do the necessary things to get it going again. I have new heads for it as well. The record/play switch will need cleaning I am sure as well as other switches.

You can get a FRESH belt kit from here. Cost you $10 plus some post. There is a new pinch roller listed against this old girl also could be worth replacing at the same time when you service the deck.

TEAC model A1500 tape recorder

What i did to solve this problem on my A-1500 was to remove the tension arm, the pinch roller and the front face holding screws , pull off the rubber faces from the reel hubs and remove them, remove the front metal face plate... in back remove the wood backing panel... inside the deck rear, remove, (without letting them fall into the mechanism) 4 screws that anchor the heavy front cast piece that holds the capstan flywheel...carefully lift the cast piece that holds the flywheel. away from the deck face just enough to allow the old belt be removed, and the new one installed...ensure the belt is installed and goes all around the flywheel..and is not pinched when you push the casting back against the deck face and reinstall the 4 rear anchor screws. place the belt around the upper drive motor pulley wheel.. small diameter part on motor pulley and large diameter part on flywheel for users of 60 hz. Ensure 60hz is selected on switch..or 50hz if that is what you need.(for 50hz ensure belt is on large motor pulley part and smaller flywheel diameter part. with deck lying down or leaning, place a few drops of light lube oil into the felt at the bearing hole for the flywheel. Give the deck a test playback before completely reassembling and putting all the parts back where they were.
