I would not reccommend that you try it, as it does not work usuaully, in rare cases when it does it does not completely fix your console. Hope this was helpful, what is your problem? If it is the three red lights. i wouold get in touch with microsoft as they have extended their warranty to three years for the three red lights problem, and they will either repair or replace your console.

Basically you need to understand what the red rings mean. If you have 3 red rings which i have hear it be called (3 red rings of death). When you get this problem you can try a few things. You can try simply turning the whole thing off, un plugging the power lead and the cable from the power pack then reassembling and turning back on; this has worked for me a few times. Next thing you can try do which is not advised.. is to wrap the console in a blanket to make it overheat, this resets the xbox in some way and may work. In terms of how much it will cost to get fixed your looking at at least £100 because it has to be shipped all the way in to Europe, thats where mine got sent to however mine was warranted. The cost of getting it repaired is not worth the hassle, you might aswell spend a few extra pounds and get a newer better console.
Lot of people try the blanket trick or towel trick, they wrap the thing in a towel to purposly overheat the thing to make it work. There is no easyness to this issue if the unit is having this overheating problem and you sent it away chances are you did not get a good repair, allow me to give you a reference www.videogamerepair.com they will repair it and garentee it for 90 days or more if the unit fails they will help you.
Sorry I wish there was a easier solution to this issue but honestly there is not. Please do be considerate even know it seems like this was not of help rate it based on other avenues, thanks
Okay, this is an easy fix. First off take your hard drive out of the xbox, than take your cords out of the back, but keep the main power cord in, make sure all of your games are taken out of the xbox. Now grab 1 or 2 blankets from a bed or extra blankets on your couch. Once you're done with that wrap them around your xbox when its turned on, make sure there is one or two holes so a little bit of heat can escape. After 5 - 20 minuets, take your xbox out of the blankets and turn it off for about 3 minuets, you can put your cords and hard drive into the xbox while your waiting, and there you go your xbox is perfectly fine to play for about 15 - 20 hours, but sooner or later it's going to bug you so much doing this over and over that your just going to want to send it in. hope i helped
Hi ok what that means is that there is a internal problem with you xbox360 it is call the "red ring of death" iv hurd of ways to help it is u wrap in in blankets and leave it on. It will mkae it over heat and reboot itself (would not advise) what i would do is call xbox and they will pay for everything you send it in and they will fix it. Is it still under warentee?
ok wat u do is bring it back to where u got it its still under warranty, it wont cost u a thing, if its second hand take off the shell where hte disc tray is and see if the silver warranty sticker is intact and in the right place if its not bring it back to the shop and complain thats its not, and as a last solution htere is a way to fix it at home u wrap the xbox up in blankets and takeout hard drive turn it on wit inly the av cable in, wait til the light comes on then take out av cable, tehn leave it wrapped up tight-ish until it turns off or makes a loud kinda clikcin noise then leave for a minute to cool down and turn on should work but is only a temporary solution
This problem was a MASSIVE defect in the Xbox 360. Your graphic chip has been burned to an extent that renders it useless. "The Red Ring of Death" can only be fixed by calling Microsoft, and having your Xbox sent in. But not to worry, because of the RR of D, Microsoft issued a 3 YEAR warrenty to all Xboxs with that problem, so your covered!

try the towel trick.wrap the console in 4 towels or a blanket and turn it on for 30 minutes, then let itt cool downn for about 15 minuutes.it really works.if this was helpful please leave a feedback rating
This is going to sound like a very strange solution, but it worked for me, twice. My xbox 360 gave me the red ring of death once, and in my despair I asked a few friends about anything they can think of, and one suggested letting it run for 10 minutes while wrapped in a towel, or blanket. By that point I was desperate enough to try it (I had bought a refurbished one, so it wasn't under warranty anymore), and lo and behold, my xbox 360 is as good as new. Basically what you're doing is shocking the system into working via overheating... I know that doesn't make much sense, but, like I said before, it worked twice for me. Hope this helps!
