Question about Microwave Ovens

Microwave not working

We have an "over the range" Whirlpool Roper microwave. All of a sudden, the microwave stopped working, i.e., it does not heat up at all inside. All of the other features seem to be working....the timer, the interior lights, sound, etc. But, all food items are stone cold when you take them out of the oven. Do you have any idea what the problem may be?

Thanks for your advice!

I put a cup of coffee in my Amana RSW669T microwave.. In about 1/2 second the micro shut off and I found that the new cup had some gold metal trim on it. I changed the coffee to a regular cup and put it back in and again reset the time and everything worked fine with hot coffee resulting. About 3 hours later it will not heat anything even though all lights and controls seem to work. What do you think is wrong?

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

There should be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel.

Samsung over the range microwave oven model# SMK9175ST the microwave part stopped heating

If "everything" works and your microwave just stopped heating, the problem might be with the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board or quite probalby your magnetron is dead. If you don't have the technical knowledge to repair microwaves, you should take it to a repair service for diagnostics.

This could be a lot of things. IT might be a capacitor or diode. MY money is on the capacitor. Since it works for a minute before it quits.

Whirlpool microwave, intermittent blower activity, shuts down microwave

Not clear what to explain but would look at the front control switches, commond problem, to see just play with the door open and closing to see what happen's with the fan, it's probroly not making proper contact, the other problem I can thing of is bad thermal heat sensor, there should be two or three of them, you need to know the basic what they do to test them just jump them, and try the unit and see if the problem stop to see witch termal is deffective.

Hope this help
