Renault Clio 172 (02 2002) loss of power and will not start

Renault Clio 172 (02 2002) was driving at a steady speed, 70 mph suddenly but with no drama or bang lost power and slowed to a steady 50 mph even adding more throttle nothing happened. then it seemed to loose more power till i eventually stopped. no will not start. the AA man said it was a possible low compression problem! could it be that the engine has gone into a safe mode

Had the same problem on a couple of occasions had to take it to a Garage. Engine management light came on before this happened on each occasion. Got it repaired by getting system cleared on computer and was told it might not happen again 6mths later it did, had to take it to a dealer and was told it was a problem with the throttle got it sorted again and so far so good..

2002 Pontiac Montana trans problem

no I don't think so , it is only the torque converter clutch engaging and disengaging due to engine load. if you want to test this. go on steady speed over 50 mph no gas pedal movement. touch lightly the brake pedal but not braking and release . during this see the rpm drop down and raise

hope it helps

My car which is a Clio sport 182 humms when I get over 50 mph and when I turn right it's really loud what could this be ?

if it's front wheel drive it's the CV axle on the right going out , they'll make more noise turning than driving straight .

Renault clio 1.2 extreme problems

you may have been put literally offtrack. Check the crank sensor (TDC) and make sure this is working fine. I recommend getting it checked at an autorised service centre.
