Question about Dell 942 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Dell printer My Dell 942 printer leaves white lines on the page. It's like its having a problem feeding the paper through evenly. It will print the first have of a line, leave a white stripe and then print the second have of the line. It will do this several times on a page so that it ends up running over on to a second page.

MY 942 is about 2 years old and has always worked well - until, now. It leaves streaks of white on the paper - changed cartridges and it still leaves streaks - like it's having a problem feeding paper or something. When I try to do a print alignment operation, and print the test page - it leaves all kinds of lines blank.

Then, in the middle of a 2-page print, it simply shoves a new page out, with one print line on it and then prints the real second page.

Yes, similar problem with the horizontal white lines through some of the text. Happens intermittently-paragraph prints clean then a sentence with the lines. Tried the new cartridge, cleaning the heads, sensor strip. After cleaning may get a page of clean type but then a sentence or two with the lines. Printer worked fine for 3 years until recently (last 2 months).

I have same problem. Did any of you resolve the problem using the solution posted (cleaning the feed rollers and manual cleaning the cartridge)?

You can try cleaning the feed rollers and manually clean the ink cartridge carrier contacts. The issue may also be the encoder which is a narrow band of transparent plastic behind the ink cartridge carriers. Try to clean this. Be careful as this can break easily.

White streaks and double printing

Usually when a printer can't feed paper evenly anymore, it's worn out. As long as you are using fresh paper and not over or under loading the paper tray, the rollers should feed the paper ok.

Copies leaves lines when put through the feeder, but not on the glass .......have cleaned and sprayed air can everywhere I can think of The Hp Printer is HP 3055 All in One printer

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page.

If this is your problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

No longer feeds the paper correctly when trying to print. It seems to feed the paper at an angle. I can hand feed one page at a time but still isn't straight. What can I do?

Please try to reinstall the your printer driver. Usually the driver is the one which malfunctions.
Good luck.

Can't print & causes a paper jam.

Take a can of BlowOff compressed air and blow out any thing that shouldn't be in there, crumbs, stickers, glue from lables, Also get a damp cloth and gently wash off the paper rollers (those black rollers on a bar that advance the paper through the printer.
If you still have a problem with actual printing, you might try removing the drivers (add and remove programs-control panel) and look on the dell site for updated drivers for that all-in-1
Fresh driver can sometimes help.
And I hope this helped, please leave a rating,
Thank you kindly

Dell AIO 942 printing problem

Hi Lei,

You may try to check on the printing settings. You may need to check also if it is defaulting to all. You may try printing it by pages. If the issue persist then there is something wrong with the settings. You may also try to uninstall and reinstall the printer software if the issue persist.

Keep me posted.
