Power will not stay on (by 2 users)

I have a VM-D51 quasar camcorder and the power will not stay on, it just shuts right off in a second.

I have this same issue, only it's when I have it plugged up through the Charger so I don't have to use the battery. It will turn on, but as soon as I put the tape in, it shuts off. Otherwise I have no problems, but I would love to get this fixed
