To troubleshoot sound without picture issues, follow these steps:

  1. Reset the resolution of the console to 640x480. To do this, start the console, hold both triggers, and then press and hold the Y button as the console starts. For more information about how to reset your display settings, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 911059 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911059/ ) How to reset your Xbox 360 console display settings to the default display settings If you see a picture on the display after you try this step, you can continue to use the 640x480 resolution, or you can try to use a higher resolution setting. If you still cannot see a picture, continue to the next step.
  2. Disconnect the VGA HD cable from the display, and then remove the console power cord from the power outlet.
  3. Wait five seconds.
  4. Reconnect the console power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the console.
  5. Reconnect the VGA HD cable to the display. If you can see a picture on the display after you try this step, you can continue to use the 640x480 resolution, or you can try to use a higher resolution setting.

XBOX 360 Screen Resolution Reset

Due to the fact I change the TV I use my XBOX 360 on sometimes, I find I connect the console and its output is set higher or to an incompatable resolution that my TV can display. If this has happend to you you need to reset the resolution to default, here's how you do it without needing to see the dashboard:

  1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
  2. Turn the console off.
  3. Using the player 1 controller turn the console on using the big X guide button.
  4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button and pull the right trigger at the same time. This causes the Xbox Dashboard to reset the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console.
Job done!

I can't get my console to display with the hdmi cable, but it works with my ps3 and the console outputs fine on a different tv. I took it back to the store this morning and they tested it and it worked...

It sounds like a resolution problem. Make sure your XBOX is reset to default settings. Use your other TV for this.
As the console starts, press and hold Y while holding the right trigger. This will reset the video settings to default, and restart your XBOX. Connect it to you HDTV and adjust the settings according to your TV type, and the MAX resolution. (I.E. if you only have a 720p TV, then you cannot select 1080p; you will get a blank screen.)
The steps are as follows:On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.Select Console Settings.
Select Display.
Select HDTV Settings.
Select the resolution that is supported for your HDTV.
Select Yes to confirm the change.

Note If your HDTV does not support the selected option, the screen goes blank. If the screen does not reappear within 10 seconds, the console switches back to the original setting.

HDMI Problem

ok i think you need to reset the video settings here is a step by step procedure which you can follow

To reset the display settings of the Xbox 360 console to the default settings, follow these steps:
  1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
  2. Turn off the console.
  3. Turn on the console.

Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Wait for the guide light to indicate that the controller has linked to the console.

Note Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller is indicated by the upper-left quadrant light on the console.
  4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button as you pull the right trigger.

Note This action causes the Xbox Dashboard to reset the display settings to the default settings. The console then automatically restarts.

It wont appear on the tv or pick up the controller signals

Make sur eth controllers are sync to the xbobx in question. Press the little white circular button on the 360 and the one on the top of the 360 contoller (between the shoulder buttons).

Also make sure you have all the cables connected to the 360 and tv correctly, and make sure your tv is on the right channel. If this doesnt help then google for the 360 video reset code, which will reset your consoles display settings to default

My ps3 doesnt show any screen on my regular tv anymore !!!

You will need to change the display settings back to normal for a standard TV. Obviously a little tricky if it's already hooked up to the TV that won't display a picture! If you do a manual (or is it called total reset?) this should revert it back to standard TV settings. To perform the reset hold the power button down for 10 seconds (I think it's 10 anyway) or until you here a couple of beeps and it should reset the display settings to it's default.

Hope that helps? Sorry I cant be more exact on the reset details.
