Picture settings On my hitachi 42" plasma, i have adjusted my video settings to exactly where they need to be, but every time I turn my computer back on the next day, the settings are back to the factory defaulted settings. I need to find out how to get my personalized settings to stay the way i set them.

I didn't mean every time I turn my computer back on the next day. I meant every time I turn my TV back on the next day.

Zemus, Do you have the AC cord plugged into the back of your cable box or into a switched outlet? It sounds like your taking the AC power away from the set and it`s going to default mode, The tv will not hold your custom adjustment settings if the AC is taken from the tv, ie; it`s plugged into the back of a cable box and you shut off the cable box when you go to bed. Or in some houses when you turn out the lights it kills the wall receptacle that the tv is plugged into, hope this helps, I found nothing on Hitachis tech page concerning this issue.

I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma tv that is making a very loud static noice coming from the internal speakers. It stays at a contstant very loud volume unless I completly mute the tv or turn the volum

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

Hitachi 42' plasma - even when I adjust aspect ratio, the edges of the picture are still hidden, as if it is zoomed in to much. Is there a way to resize the picture?

I don't know if this will help. If your using a cable box or satellite receiver they also have format buttons that can adjust picture size. Maybe you could try to adjust them.

Hitachi 42EDT41A Plasma (Snow, very light pic), all else OK

LCDs are worth it to have as to a Plasma set as plasma tvs do need time to warm up LCD and LED tvs dont have that warm up time to wait for things to smooth out however if you wish to have the tv serviced it is fully up to the owner of that TV now mind you there is also OLED tvs out there in the market as well and with the cost of LCD tvs going down to about 500 bucks you might be more interested in that but thats my IMO on buying a TV set

Sounds like a bad component on the video board. These days, TV techs just swap out boards for whole new ones.

In the video setting go down to reset. You will only need minor adjustment after a reset.

IF you are saying that every thing is connected properly check your video cable it could be bad use a new one if that does not rectify your problem it is time to call in the tech you could be having problem in your video circuit but you did not mention if the screen light up with no picture but with sound or it does not light up blank with sound.however there could be two things 1 if the screen lightup with normal sound it could be a leaky ,open, or shorted, transistor or ic in the IF circuit.2 If the screen does not light up and has normal sound it could be a defective horizontal stage.so it is time you take the set to a tech for repairs.good luck.
