Question about IBM ThinkPad 770 Notebook
I have replaced the littel circuit board and indeed the entire screen assembly, only to still have the screen intermittently black out for no apparent reason. My ten year old daughter discovered that closing the screen halfway and restarting will get the screen to work fairly often. I need to fix this one if at all possible, no money for a nicer new laptop.
If you have an external monitor, try plugging up to that to see if it is an LCD screen issue or if it is a video card issue. If the monitor does not show the same symptons then it is the LCD screen. If it does then it is the video card. Usually the motherboard will need to be replaced if it is the video. If the screen, then it will need to be replaced.
Hope this helps!!
