Tip

7 tips we've learned in setting up and using our team Web site.

In this article, I'm going to give you 7 tips we've learned in setting up and using our team Web site. These tips can help you get up and running productively as quickly as possible with your site.

Note: Windows SharePoint Services is a great, and underused, tool for managing teams and team projects. You can use it to create a team Web site to track objectives and projects, as well as have a central location for storing and collaborating on documents.

Example of a team Web site created with Windows SharePoint Services.

1. Create folder names that are clear and consistent

Organize site folders by whatever makes the most sense for your team. The key is to be clear and, above all, consistent. For example you could choose to organize:

* By department
* By objective
* Alphabetically
* By clients
* By project

We also create a new Document Library folder in SharePoint for each project. We can store all of our files related to a project in a Document Library. This not only helps keep our files organized, but makes it easier if a project is reassigned for the new owner to take ownership of all the associated materials.

2. Develop standards for naming files

Decide as a team how you want to name your files. For example, you can insist that a date be attached to each file, or that the person who created the file put their initials in the file name. Also, you can take advantage of the fact that you can use long file names for files and SharePoint folders. Be sure to publish your naming structure so that everyone on the team knows what it is. Above all, be consistent in reinforcing and using this naming convention. This is critical. We’ve found that if you don’t, your team won’t know how find files and therefore won’t use the site effectively.

3. Keep only the latest versions of files

Develop an archive folder system for keeping previous versions of files for historical or version control needs. We keep only one current version in our “active” folders. This clears up any possible confusion over which version of a document should be used, particularly when your team members download files to their computer to work on while they're traveling or working out of their office.

If your team members do copy files onto their computers, you need to take extra precautions to ensure you only have the most current versions of their files on the team Web site. If team members keep versions of files on their computer, they should change the file name. That way, if they upload the file at a later date, they will not overwrite something on the team Web site that might have been edited in the meantime.

4. Give clear ownership of each section of the team Web site

Give each folder a single owner who can add files to it. We find that this ensures the integrity of naming and file structures within each section of the team Web site. Multiple people may edit documents in various folders, but we make sure no one else uploads new documents or creates new folders inside a folder owned by someone else.

5. Check out and check in files

You will probably have a number of files (like sales data) that are accessed and edited by several team members. While SharePoint won’t allow multiple people to save an open file, it is possible for a person to open a file while someone else is editing it. Unless the file is checked out, you run the risk of more than one person working on the same file. One or more people may end up doing work that can't be properly saved. And if a user doesn’t check the file back in, then others can’t access it. Learn how to:

Make sure you check out files on your team Web site before working on them.

6. Clearly describe folder contents

As people on the team change, they will need to know what they can expect to find in different Document Library folders. Because we include a clear description of each folder, the new team member knows what's in each folder and can find the documents they need to get up to speed a lot faster. This has been really useful to us when an account grows large enough that we add another consultant to the team. We also modify the descriptions when we complete a project. We designate the library as containing archive information rather than active information.

Clearly describe each folder in your Document Library.

To put in a detailed description of a Document Library:

1. Click on the Document Library you want to edit.
2. In the Document Library you want to edit, in the left navigation, click Modify Settings and Columns.
3. On the Customize page, in the General Settings section, click Change General Settings.
4. This takes you to the Document Library Settings page, In the Name and Description section, type in the description of the folder. Click OK.

7. Link to files in SharePoint folders

When you're working on a project, it’s easy to just insert a file from the team Web site into an e-mail. By sending out different versions of the same file, however, you could end up with multiple versions of the same document. It's far more reliable to just insert a link to the document in your e-mail. You can also put links to SharePoint documents into a task in Microsoft Office Outlook, or into an appointment on your calendar.

If you store multiple copies of a file on your team Web site, it's also easy for one copy of the file to get modified and leave the others out of date. Instead, we make sure we only have one version of a document and link to it from other places when necessary.

To put a link to file on your team Web site into any Microsoft Office document:

1. Locate the document you want to create a link for. Put your cursor over the document name until the file name turns red.
2. Right-click on the red file name and in the drop-down menu and click Copy Shortcut.
3. With your mouse cursor in the body of your task, appointment, contact, documents folder, or in another file, right-click and click Paste. This will paste the link. When you click on the link, it will open the actual document.

Put links to documents on your team Web site rather then putting different versions in multiple locations.

To put a link to file on your team Web site into another part of the Web site:

1. Locate the document you want to create a link for. Put your cursor over the document name until the file name turns red.
2. Right-click on the red file name and in the drop-down menu and click Copy Shortcut.
3. Navigate to the folder you want to include the link in. Click New Document. SharePoint will open a new document called "template.htm" in Microsoft Word.
4. Paste the shortcut into the new document. Select all of the text and right click on it.
5. Click Hyperlink... and type in the text you want in the Text to display box (for example, "Click here to see the final version of this presentation.") Click OK.
6. Save the file. When anyone opens this file, clicking the link will take them to the current version of the referenced file.

I hope sharing some of the lessons we’ve learned will help you get a head start on your own team Web site.

How much money does a swat officer get paid

How Much Money Do SWAT Police Earn
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams are comprised of specially trained police officers who are sent into high-risk situations. In most instances, the wages of SWAT team members are the same as salaries for regular police officers. However, police departments typically pay a monthly or annual pay differential to members of the SWAT team.

SWAT Officers SWAT team officers are skilled marksmen trained to shoot long range targets with pinpoint accuracy. Trained snipers are also tasked with detecting and neutralizing threats posed to political figures at conventions and special events. These professionals often accompany regular patrol officers during confrontations involving organized crime figures or suspected terrorists. Most SWAT police are taught crowd control techniques to be used during riots or civil unrest. SWAT teams usually include negotiators who are tasked with resolving situations.
Base Salary According to a 2011 report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, police officers, including SWAT team members, have an average base salary of $56,260 a year. Police officers in New Jersey are the highest paid in the nation with average salaries of $81,970. Among metropolitan areas, the highest wages are paid to police officers in the Los Angeles, Glendale and Long Beach area of California. These officers earn an average annual salary of $85,620.

Police Departments Most police officers work for state and local law enforcement agencies. The budgets and pay structures of police departments vary, as do the payments made to SWAT team members. In Brownsville, Texas, SWAT team members receive a flat annual fee of $650 in addition to their base salaries. In Albuquerque, N.M., SWAT officers receive a $50 monthly payment that amounts to $600 a year in additional pay. In Riverside, Calif., full-time SWAT officers receive an additional payment that is equal to 3 percent of their base salaries.
Additional Pay Members of the SWAT team can potentially generate extra income by taking on additional responsibilities. In Round Rock, Texas and in Albuquerque, negotiators receive an annual payment of $600. Many SWAT team members provide firearms training to other officers, and a police officer in Round Rock can earn an additional $2,400, per year for working as a trainer. SWAT officers can further boost their pay if they are bilingual, are trained to defuse, or agree to work night shifts or special assignments.

Need to have a cached page on google search removed because it contains personal info about minors

Depending on your browser a simple history delete will also include the option to delete the cache. This can usually be found on the browsers 'settings' or 'internet options'. There are also a few winoptimizer programs available online that can also delete the cache/history or specific parts of it.

Need rules for Cranium Game canada.

Players are divided into two, three, or four teams; each team picks a mover and puts it on the "Planet Cranium" Start space. The board is laid out as a circuit, consisting of different coloured spaces. Each colour corresponds to a question card category. Purple "Planet Cranium" spaces gives the team their choice of category.
The rules of Cranium state that the team with the player whose birthday is coming up next starts the game. Play then continues clockwise to the next team.
[edit] Card Categories Creative Cat These blue cards are, as the name suggests, creative activities. Cloodle cards require a team member to draw on a piece of paper while the other team member(s) attempt to guess the word or phrase, much like Pictionary. Sensosketch cards are the same but the drawer must have their eyes closed. Sculpturades requires one player to mold the included putty into shapes for the other player(s) to guess the word or phrase being sculpted. All of the blue cards have vague hints.
Data Head These red cards revolve around, as the name suggests, knowledge of data and facts. Selectaquest cards ask a question and present four possible multiple choice answers, of which your team must choose the correct answer. Factoid cards present a question that your team must answer outright, and a third type of card requires your team to evaluate a statement to determine whether it is true or false.
Word Worm These yellow cards are themed around words, spelling, and anagrams. There are two types of spelling involved in this category; one type involves one team member spelling a moderately difficult word (such as vacuum) correctly on the first try without writing down the word. Another type of spelling challenge in Word Worm is Gnilleps; again, a moderately difficult word (such as achieved) must be spelled correctly on the first attempt by one team member with the caveat that they must spell it backwards. Lexicon cards require teams to correctly identify the definition of a word out of four possibilities, usually a relatively unused word such as syzygy or bedizen. Blankout requires the team to use a vague hint to fill in the blank words with only some letters filled in. Finally, Zelpuz requires your team to use a vague hint to re-arrange the letters in an anagram to form the correct word or phrase.
Star Performer These green cards are themed around acting out clues with a vague hint such as in charades, acting and speaking like a famous person or fictional character but without using proper names, or humming or whistling a popular tune to get your group to guess the song, such as with Hummdingers.
[edit] Gameplay On each turn, a team has a chance to complete an activity on one card and advance along the board. If the team is on a purple space (as all teams are on the start space), they can choose the first card from any of the four categories. If they are on a coloured space, the first card from the corresponding category is selected. If the team successfully completes the card they have chosen, the die is then rolled to determine what space the team moves to.Whether the activity is completed successfully or not, the turn always ends after one card.
If the team completes an activity successfully before timer runs out, they roll the color-faced die and move to the next space of the color they roll, or to the next Planet Cranium space, whichever is closer. If they roll purple, they go to the next Planet Cranium space.
[edit] Scenic Path and Fast Track A team's first activity on a Planet Cranium space, including the start space, determines whether they will take the "scenic path" or the "fast track" to the next Planet Cranium space. If they complete their first activity on a Planet Cranium space successfully before time runs out, they will take the inside fast track to the next Planet Cranium space. If they do not complete their first activity successfully, or if time runs out, they will not be able to take the fast track, and, when they do complete an activity successfully to get off the Planet Cranium space, they will have to take the longer scenic path to the next Planet Cranium space.
[edit] Club Cranium On some of the Creative Cat and Star Performer cards, there is a "Club Cranium" symbol. When one of these cards is drawn, every team competes and has one of its members do the activity for them. Acting is to be performed in front of all the teams. Each team may guess the answer by looking at anyone performing. The same applies to sensosketches and cloodles. Whichever team gets it first gets to roll the die and move, and play continues with the team who the Club Cranium card was originally for. If no one guesses the answer before time runs out, no one moves and play continues with the team whose turn it was. If a team gets a Club Cranium card correct while on a Planet Cranium, they may move on the fast track if it was their first activity while on the Planet Cranium; if their first activity on a Planet Cranium is a Club Cranium and they do not win it, they still try for the fast track on their next turn. The only penalty for not getting a Club Cranium right is not being able to take an extra move.
[edit] Cranium Central Around the "Cranium Central" space in the center of the board are four black spaces, each with the name of one of the decks on it. Before a team can go into Cranium Central, they must collect one card from each deck by moving around these spaces.
When a team reaches the end of the path, they must place their mover on the black space that with the deck name that corresponds to the color of their roll. If they roll purple, they may decide which black space to start on. They continue play in the normal fashion, except that when they complete an activity successfully, they keep the card, and instead of rolling the die, they move clockwise to the next black space.
Once the team has a card from each deck, they may move into Cranium Central. Once they are in Cranium Central, on their turn, they will receive an activity from the deck that the other teams decide on. If they do not complete the activity successfully, they must wait until their next turn, when the other teams will pick another activity for them, either from the same deck or another deck. Once the team successfully completes an activity while in Cranium Central, they have won the game.
[edit] Expansions and spinoffs Booster BoxesBoxes of cards (and clay) sold separately from the game that contain a new deck of each type of card. As of 2007[update], Booster Boxes 1 and 2 are available, along with a special New York edition pack.CadooA kids' version of the game that has some elements of tic-tac-toe.CongaA version with a slightly older target audience than Cadoo. Incorporates a musical timer and magnetic drawing pad.Cranium Turbo EditionA version of Cranium designed for a faster game.Cranium The Family Fun Game'A game similar to the original Cranium with some minor changes.Cranium WowA similar game to the original with new cards and activities from Cranium Turbo.Cranium KabookiiA game version available on the wii platform. Activities comprise a mixture of some from the original game and new games better suited for a video game environment.Cranium HooplaA timed version of Cranium, designed for two or more players to play cooperatively.Cranium ScribblishPlayed very much like the game of .
