the mouse works but only until i log-in the network user after that it stops working. The pointer is there but there is no motion or clicking. i tried to solve this by removing both com ports and the mouse prom the device manager and it works again but only until it re-installs the com ports. I should mention that on a previous atemt to solve the problem it tried to install some logitech mouse driver as the PC detected but the instalation failed and becouse of that the system would not start in normal mode(only in safe mode) untill i disabled the lmouse.drv from mscomfig. please help!

i guess it is due to conflicting Com ports resources. you can try the following to resolve the problem. i am assuming you have a serial mouse connected to com port

1. remove any devices marked under device manager with yellow exclamation mark or question mark. reboot the system

2. when the system has restarted let the windows install any new devices it has found. after that.... go to device manager right click on com port to which mouse is connected

a) click on port settings tab and click restore defaults.
b) see if windows is reporting any resource conflicts under resources tab.

do you have any other device that is attached to any other com port ? if yes it may be causing resource conflict problems. to solve that click set configuration manually and deselect automatic settings and select different configuration in "settings based on" . this should resolve resource conflicts if any.

I hope this helps solve your problem
