Sound is okay watching tv on hdtv - but crackles with dvd playing

The sound on our hdtv is quite good but when trying to watch a movie on the dvd player there is intermitent crackling which can get quite bad at times. I've swapped around chords and the dvd players, but it still happens. We've had the hdtv for about three months - and this problem has ony developed this week.

If your DVD player supports HDMI or OPTICAL / DIGITAL audio then I would take a look at swapping to those type of connection first. This would help eliminate bad cords / connectors / electrical interference from other sources

Your TV has two hdmi inputs and optical so you have a choice

On what device are you trying to watch the movie? From a DVD, or streaming from some website?

TV going black still hear sound

I suspect if you are using the DVD to play via a Scart connector , then the problem is simply that the Scart cable has became a bit slack. Try taking the Scart out of the rear connections from the DVD & the TV & then just pushing them back in again to make sure they have a good contact.

You need a audio cable for sound. HDMI cable is only for picture. I use the comp 1 plugs myself, better picture. I found with my TV that the HDMI cable is only good if you have a digital box for it. You can also use the plug to hook your computer to off your graphics card and watch downloaded movies on.
