Question about Televison & Video
TV is 5 years old. Never had a single problem. This AM TV won't turn on. Standby light blinks 7 times. Assuming this is a power supply issue what am I looking at in terms of repair costs?
Is this your TV's problem? - about a 5 year old KV-34XBR800 suddenly won't power up - yet sometimes will still power up if left alone for a little while. For a possible fix to your Sony KV-34XBR800, go here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=928945&page=4
for my post #108 woth a step-by-step solution including pictures. $21.83 is all it cost me and 3 hours is all it took, though I was also taking the time to photograph and document the repair. I fixed my own TV as many others on that forum have. Feel free to contact me at email@example.com if you run into difficulties. Please don't discard that set - It's one of the best sets Sony has made, according to lots of people online.
P.S. This fix will also work with some other KV series TV's with the same problem.

Five blinks - AKB
circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks
for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.
Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761
and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on
the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning
up screen slightly.
