Question about Bosch 24 in. SHX99A15UC Stainless Steel Dishwasher

Dishwasher Stinks Our dishwasher has recently begun to smell like burning rubber when it is running. Still washes the dishes fine, and we pulled it out several times but can find no smoking, smoldering, etc to pinpoint the problem area. Fumes give me a headache. Can anyone help?

    Chris,

Thanks! This gives me a place to look, but our washer is well over a year old, we got it from a Habitat Restore.

Thanks so much for your help, but we tried this, too. It didn't stink the first time after, but then has on and off, mostly on, since. We're going to get the gaskets checked out, but it seems a little strange because it stinks all the way through the wash cycle (I don't know if you've ever burned out the belt on a vacuum cleaner because it was totally wrapped with long hair - human - but it smells about the same) Anyway, we had the washer for 6-9 months before it started doing this. The only unusual occurence I can remember that might somehow tie to the problem - I had both the top and bottom rack pulled out when filling the washer and it tipped out of the cabinet. We can't find anything pinched or rubbing etc in many times taking it out of the cabinet to check since this started happening. I'm ready to push it off a cliff :)

Is your dishwasher less than a year old? if so you need to call bosch and have all the gaskets replaced. they tried a new chemical to make the gasket but now have found that after the dry cycle the gaskets put off a strange odor like your discribing. ive changed several gaskets because of this

My Indesit IDL40 dishwasher, loud bang with slight burning smell but still working?

Any burning smell is not good. Indicates that something in there is too hot and perhaps melting something. Could even catch fire......

Could very well be that whatever is responsible for the noise can be causing the problemo.

Kenmore dishwasher leaving a lot of water on door, bottom, wall and dishes! it STINKS!

The pump could be leaking. The drain could be plugged - hence the smell. Taking a look underneath could reveal what needs to be fixed. I don't have an answer for why dishes are still wet even after a hot wash and heated dry but perhaps it is related to the other problem

When we open dishwasher theres standing water in the drain area and it smells bad this is after washing aload dishs look clean but inside stinks

After you run a load of dishes put 1cup of CLR or vinegar (white) and run a quick wash.no dishes, after running dishes clean out spray arm and clean strainer, use a rinse agent like finish, and spray off dishes before loading.About 35yrs. ago I use to be a dishwasher as one of my first job's and if you did'nt spray the dishes and scrap them off before loading, the dishes would not come out clean,And after each shift the dish washer would be cleaned out.

Cycle runs but dishes are still dirty. No water.

Sounds like an inlet valve. If there is no water in the pump when it runs you can burn up the rubber seals. After fixing the fill problem you should check underneath for any leaks.

Our kitchen aid dishwasher is about 7 years old, recently it has begun making a high pitched whine while the wash cycle is running. The dishes are still clean, but the noise is new and annoying not to...

Sounds like it could be the bearing in the wash motor. If the sound is only present when you can hear water being thrown around then this would confirm it. Not sure about spares availability on a 7yr old machine though

Mold grows on dishes in bosch dishwasher

Put a bowl filled with 2 cups of clorox on the lower rack and run a wash cycle (nothing else in the machine) this will kill the mold spores in the machine, and clear the smell.

Smells bad

I have a very bad smell in my elite kenmore diswasher. We have had it for a year now. I have been smelling this now for several weeks and I didn't know where the smell was coming from until this morning when I pulled the door down to unload my dishes.

"rubber burning" smell

check to see if the motor is overheating, the motor could
be getting hot causing the smell, if the motor is'nt overheating, then call the local repair man, we live in miami(florida), and we have a dish washer that keeps on rumbling, we are getting it fixed today, the only big big problem is it seems to draw alot of electricity when in operation, so there's my problem
p.s. is your dishwasher also rumbling and drawing electricity?
