Using a HDMI cable from my laptop connected to the TV, the movie or video only displays about half of the TV screen and not full screen
There should b a little square box in bottom right corner click on it for full screen

Check graphic card software on laptop to make sure it's on the right settings to output image to TV.

I posted to your problem with a similar one. I was able to get my PS3 to work by:
1.) Powering down both the PS3 and ViewSonic LCD
2.) Unplugging the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
3.) Waiting at least 10 or more seconds
4.) Plugging in the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
5.) Turning on the ViewSonic LCD
6.) Turning on the PS3 and holding down the power button until the beep
After this sequence I heard the bootup audio and the menu appeared on the screen- which detected the HDMI connection to my LCD.
Very odd.. I've had my PS3 in the same place for months and just today this happened.

Have you gone to My Xbox, System Settings, and selected the appropriate high definition video setting? Do you have it set up on your TV as well? Both need to be set for HDMI.
