Hi, you will need to replace the fan if it is not working as the computer will not function without it. If you continue to run it it will "cook" the processor.

Depending on the age and warranty status of your machine will determine how and where you get it fixed.

Also, just a suggestion, if you do have the laptop sitting turned on for long periods I would suggest that you purchase a "fan board" where the laptop sits on the fan board and the fanboard is plugged into the PC via a USB connector for it's power.

I have one for my laptop as mine overheated one time too many a long time ago and I lost my hard driver.

Let us know how you go,

HI Ryan,

Please try the following:

1. Check the connection to the fan
2. Replace the fan itself.

If the above do not resolve issue, there may be a problem with *********** board itself

hope this will help you.

The fan is blocked up and is not able to keep the cpu cold, if it over heats your computer will shut down to prevent damage to itself then restart, to stop this from rebooting you will need to take it apart and remove the CPU thermal module that is attached to the fan and clean it, by doing this help the laptop and keep it running smoothly. Hi,
You can try go to Start - Control Panel - Power Options and check what you want computer do when you close the lid of your laptop. Fix that and restart laptop to apply the setting.
If the boot up not complete and restart by itself, in my opinon, there is something wrong on the start up process, could be hardware malfuctions, could be a software not compatible. Try check the start up process to see.(use Start- Run: msconfig)
If this happen often, you should call the Samsung customer services to find out. Laptop i3 should still under warranty.

Hope this will help.

Hello, I have Asus f5z, video card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200. Original Windows Vista, automatic updates always On. And suddenly began go error, screen blinks, and shows "ati stopped responding...

This could either be a problem with the graphics driver, or a problem with the graphics card itself.

Try once more downloading the latest version of the driver from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx and installing it while your computer is running without the graphics driver turned on. Then try re-enabling the graphics driver to see if the updated driver solved the problem.

If updating the driver doesn't work, it's almost certainly a problem with the laptop's video card. If this is the case, you'll want to have it looked at by a professional, or contact Asus support directly to see if they can help you resolve the issue.

Hope this is helpful!

If you have a recovery / restore CD you can do it from it. If not then you have to reinstall the windows as some system files have gone missing / infected with virus. While reinstalling the windows you may get an option to restore to a previous version. If so, then do it otherwise you have to reinstall the windows.

Toshiba Satellite L300 shuts down when ac power plugged in

How about this step, try to turn off the laptop itself. Remove the cables and battery just like what you did before, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the computer itself. If the laptop restarts, shuts down or freezes with the AC power cables, two things that you should seriously consider. It might be the power cable itself, AC cable port or the circuitry going to the motherboard. And since you have cleaned out the fan and heat sink, you have isolated that problem. Have you plug-in another power cable on your laptop? If yes, then check if it works. Otherwise, the main issue is that the AC port is loose or the circuitry of AC adapter going to the motherboard is not not working. You can re-open the unit and check the circuitry from the AC port going to the motherboard. You may check the circuitry from AC port to the power supply if it is ok. If symptom persist, please contact your local dealer...

My laptop fan runs constantly and loud also my computer seems to gey hotter quickly

Pull the access cover off of your fan on the bottom off your laptop and blow it out with canned air. Wipe off the fins of your fan and blow once again from the exhaust port where the heat blows out from when fan is on. You'd be amazed at how much dust is there. Reinstall cover and you should be good to go. : )

HP Pavilion zv5000 Turns off every 10 mins and restarts itself?

When the computer is on try using that computer cleaner compressed air that comes in the can on the fan that is not working. If you hit it with the compressed air and get the fan to spin and then it starts to spin on it's own the fan could be sticking. This will cause overheating and the computer could shut down like it's doing. Also does it do it when the battery is on or a/c power or both?

Overheat?

It sounds like an overheating problem. When it is booted, does it run ok other than just being slow? Check your cooling fan and make sure it is running and not stopped up. That is a number one symtom of overheating is freezing and rebooting by itself. There is a free program called "Motherboard Monitor 5" that will monitor the temp for you and set off an alarm when it is getting to hot. Check that problem first. Hopes this helps!
