SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck mca0824@aol.com

That being said you could remove the door lightly sand and paint, can of krylon enamal aint should do it, at least for a little while anyway

SOURCE: New LG 8000 btu a/c units are rusting

I have a similar situation with 66 a/c units in my motel. The problem is the drain valve in the back of the unit (near the compressor) does not function properly. It is supposed to open when the water temp (laying in the bottom of the unit) gets to 50 degrees cusing the drain valve to open and let the water out. The problem is the water never reaches 50 degrees when the outside temperature is in the 80's. So the water sets in the units. The fan sprays the water over the fan motor, heating element and inside the chasis causing it to rust from the inside out. I have notified LG and they are investigating it...... Amana has the same problems with their units which use the same drain valve and they have removed the drain valve in several motels in the area.
I would suggest removing the drain valve or wedging something under the little round plate so the the unit drains. Also make sure your A/C is tilted properly so the water runs to the back of the unit and drains.

Testimonial: "My a/c is still under warranty so LG drilled a small hole in corner of the drain pan on the side where the water was spraying out. Works great now!"

Try applying a paste of "Barkeepers Friend" instead, let it sit overnight. It will eliminate
rust stains and it works well on tubs also. If you must paint the racks, use Rustoleum
Appliance Epoxy. Hope this is helpful.

How to use acid citric to clean a thermal 5lr boiler

Use CLR or white vinegar. If it is a plumbed in unit, there is usually a small bypass tank at the rear and a crossover valve where you put the descaler and then run the cycle. On others, you fill the water tank and run the descale program.

The amount of Citric Acid you would need is prohibitive, CLR is a better product.

Removing rust stains from silk

You can use the old lemon juice and salt trick. Place a sponge or towel under the stain, and use a washcloth or very soft brush to work it through the fabric. When the stain looks gone, wash the entire thing as per manufacturer's instructions.

If that doesn't work, try hydrogen peroxide..the disinfectant you can get from the **** store..in a spray bottle with a mild detergent, or one of the oxygenating cleaners, like Oxyclean, mixed with a bit of water.
Work it through the fabric just like the instructions above.

How can I clean stains in concrete?

It depends what the stain is. Concrete is porous and like clothing, some stains are permanently set. Detergents remove oils. Surfectants take it a step further. Acid removes scale. Cat litter can soak up standing oil. Once clean to satisfaction, seal the concrete to help prevent future staining.

What does de-scale mean?

To de-scale anything in relation to water means to remove the mineral scale buildup on the walls or where ever. That's the usually white chalky stuff that you might see around nozzles etc. Follow yu manuals instructions to de-scale. Usually involving white vinegar, or possibly a product like CLR for removing minerals and rust stains. I AM NOT SAYING TO USE CLR IN YOUR MACHINE, just indicating an example of a product that manages mineral scale. Read the manual to do it correctly.

How to get the clean off an ge coffee pot?

Automatic clean function
The coffee maker is equipped with an automatic clean function. After 60 brewing cycles, the clean indicator/button (22) lights up. This indicates coffee maker should be cleaned by using the automatic clean function and the charcoal filter (17) should be replaced.
NOTE: The coffee maker can continue to be used, when clean indicator/button (22) is on.
• To begin the cleaning cycle, remove the charcoal filter (17) from the water tank (10). Fill the tank with a vinegar and water mixture (1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water) or a descaling product. Press clean (22) button for three seconds. The clean indicator/button (22) flashes and the cleaning process begins.
Cleaning process:
• 24 cycles of 7 seconds brewing and 21 seconds off
• 30 minutes rest
• Brewing the remaining descaling solution
• After cleaning process is complete the clean indicator/button (22) goes off. Fill water tank (10) with clean water and run one brewing cycle to rinse the coffee maker.
• Change the charcoal filter (17) (ill. k). Reinsert the charcoal filter to the coffee maker (ill. l).
NOTE: You can use the cleaning function before reaching 60 cycles (especially if the water hardness is above normal). Press and hold clean indicator/button (22) for 3 seconds.
NOTE: The Cleaning Process takes 60 minutes to complete. You cannot cancel the cleaning process before it is complete. Unplugging the machine only delays the cleaning process.

Rust on Jenn Air Refrigerator Door at Water Dispenser

You may end up respraying the door, but here goes.-

First mechanically remove as much of the rust as you can with an old screwdriver or similar scraper. Then use coarse emery cloth - 80 -120 grit untill all you're left with is shiny metal with rust pits.
You may need to go out further than you think - about 1" all round.

Then use a paint- on de-rusting fluid from vehicle products supplier. When all rust is black or dissapeared, use a zinc primer on all the bare metal. (this will stop it reacuring)

Then either spray the area with an "appliance white" aerosol or squirt it into the cap, and use a paintbrush.

If you are spraying it, open all house windows and doors, cut a mask from newspaper- then tape it to the fridge. Use blankets , plastic dustsheet or old sheets to protect things, and spray it from 12" in several very light coats.

When done, "polish" with T cut - which should remove the rust stain too.

Seal the area of the original leak with a white or clear silicone - and sort the original leak out.

If you polish the plastic with a silicone spray, water will tend to stay put rather than seep.
