Sound to me that the ink cartridge carriage is stuck if you can remove ink cartridges and then reinstall them. You may have to take machine apart. There are clips on the bottom of the machine to do this but be aware that when you turn it upside down the waste ink will leak

Hope I could help
Thanks J

"General Error"

First step is check inside the machine for crunched up paper at both ends of the print carriage path. You may need to start the machine and pull the power cable out as soon as the printhead starts to move. This allows you to move the carriage out of the way.

Check to make sure you have the dark grey ink cartridges installed in the printer. The blue (photo) and the Econo Black cartridges cannot be used for the self test.

I changed the ink cartrige,it keeps saying alignment cancelled and the copy button keeps flashing - when i open it up the ink cartrige wont slide back out it seems stuck.

The printer needs to be aligned and it wasn't done after changing the catridge so it does not want to continue. Have you tried pushing the flashing copy button to print another alignment page? Do you know how to align the printer?

After changing a cartridge the printer wants to print an alignment page to make sure that it prints correctly. Some printers have you print a page and they auto align themselves. Others cue you to print the alignment page which has a picture or other graphics that are in specific places and then it instructs you to insert the alignment page face down and press "ok". The printer scans the alignment page and configures the print heads to set up by the marks. It uses the alignment page as a map of where the print should be on the paper.

Try unplugging the printer from the power supply and wait about 30 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on. The display should say "print alignment page". Choose yes or confirm to continue. Your printer will either print the page and align itself, or print the page and tell you to insert it and continue. Either way follow the prompts and complete the alignment process in order to continue printing as normal.

If you are unable to get the printer to reset and start the alignment procedure over again, please advise and I will help you solve this problem.

Have an AL-1000. got a crunching noise on start.error message flashes L4..motor drive error?

You most likely have a problem with your fuser rachet dive gear or it could be the upper fixing roller drive gear. I would first look to see if any of screws are lose that hold the fuser in. It could be just from wary and tary on the fuser or it could be that the lower fixing roller is damaged. If your copier has over 50k on it may just be easier to replace the whole fixing unit. Good Luck

Alignment of printhead on Canon Pixma iP4600

This is simply a case of the ink tanks not being pressed in hard enough. They do click in, as the manual instructs but, unless they are fully pressed in top and bottom, this problem occurs. It's a shame that the Canon manuals and even the support centre do not mention this simple solution.

Keep printing test sheets

A lot of HP printers print a page to enable the print head alignment and calabration. This normally orcurs when a cartridge has been changed. If the alignment page fails then it will reprint alignment page until it can align.

So, you need to get that page it prints and place it on the glass and press scan, then it will complete alignment and be ready to rock.

Printer will not copy

It Does keep asking if it fails to get it right, usually it fails to get scan of alignment page completed correctly because it fails to see one of the colours printed on its alignment page correctly,
I would guess that you should change colour cartridge as well (these I have seen deplete themselves trying print black when black ink is not present.

There is also a way of telling your printer to forget about alignment would you like to know how......Press and hold the Setup button, and then press Options (or Copy Options ).

Here is a link to how an alignment page should look and HP answers to your problem, please rate my solution for me.

Aligning problem

You could try opening the HP toolbox should be under Start--> Control Panel--> Printers and Faxes. under properties os options. It will be something like that. Then print an alignment page put it in the scan section of the All In One as prompted and that should align it also under the setting there will be clean print nozzles. If this fails I would seriously consider just replacing the printer. There also explanations of this at
