Electrolux Epic 6500 SR series

Hi, as soon as I put the hose nozzle on the vacuum stops. It rins ok until you put a bit of obstruction in front of the aspiration hole. I have checked the bag,it is new, the filter is also new, I just do not know what can make it die like this.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. I have triple check and there is no clog anywhere. as for the little switch I do not see it when I remove the cover to the bag. I have check the hose and it completely free of any obstruction. The problem persists even though the hose is not installed. Just the fact of putting my hand over the hole where the hose ususally goes kills the motor. Any other suggestions?

Vacuum cuts off and full bag light comes on with hose attached. Runs fine without hose until you place your hand over suction opening. Bag is new and empty, filter is new, no obstruction in hose.

Hi folks, especially oroussea, I got the same problem and can't open the case at all. Can anyone describe in more detailed how do I open this Epic 6500 Electrolux and disarm the BFSA. Thanks much.

Ok i found a solution for my Electrolux Epic 6000 which had the exact same symptoms as you describe. I fixed it by disabling the "bag full sensitivity adjustor" (BFSA for short, for the lack of a better term). For that i opened the case, removed the hose that was preventing me from opening complety the casing, unscrewed the transaparent BFSA mechanism.

Here's the walkthrough:

- Open the case: Open the top part of the vacuum (where the bag is)
- Remove the 2 side rubber by sliding them from the back to the front of the vaccuum
- Remove the "plastic cap" at the end of the vacuum (you can slightly lift the vacuum top part to make it easier)
- Now unplug a small air hose to be able to open the case completely.
- Find the BFSA device and unscrew it.
- Now give your vacuum a try... it worked for me.

Ohh.. one last thing... my BFSA had some broken platic in it (i saw them when i unscrewed it). Might be the same thing for you.

Open the case: Open the top part of the vacuum (where the bag is)
Notice there is a little switch which the bag would push down that goes up and down letting the vacuum know the door is shut properly.
I pushed down the switch and stuck a stick into the hole along the switch holding it down even though the door is open.
By doing this the vacuum works fine.
It appears on mine anyway that when the door is shut it isn't pushing the switch down all the way and holding it there. It is bouncing so to speak so the vacuum went on and off after just a few seconds or it ran good when the door was open and the switch was pushed down.
    Hope this helps.

Check the air filter which is at the air output (blower) part of the canister, under the part where the attachments are stored.

You probably have a clog somewhere, also there is a vacuum switch close to the motor, check that. Those machines cut off if the vacuum pressure drops due to an obstruction.

Accessory compatibility between Electrolux Models 1521 and Epic 6500 SR

No, they have different connectors. 1521 uses a pigtail hose that has little metal clips. 6500 has a plastic end with an arrow that helps guide you for proper placement. Unfortunately you will need 2 separate hoses for the respective models.

I have the electrolux vacuum epic series 6000 SR and bought it used therefore I dont have a manual. I have had it for about a yr and it worked great..it looked like it should have a filter but I didnt...

1. A manual can be downloaded from:
http://www.aerusvacuums.com/support/manuals/.
The Epic 60006500 is located under "Older Models". Download the Epic 6500 manual

2. Check for clogs in the hose and the power nozzle inlet.
3. Disconnect hose. Turn on vacuum. Does it run? If so, place hand over intake? Did it shut off? If it did, the problem is a worn out or broken component inside the vacuum. Generally a result of using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. This is a part that needs to be replaced in an authorized Aerus (Electrolux) shop.

Look for a restriction somewhere in the suction system. Inspect every last inch of it so you know it is clear.

Well, make sure the hose part is not clogged, this happened to my friends recently and their vacuum was smoking, if you're positive this isn't happening then it might be just the engine call the sellers, try to explain and see if they exchange for a new one or a refund.
