SOURCE: solar battery charger
Yes, but the efficiency of solar cells is terrible. Its one thing to use free sunlught to charge the cells, its another to have to pay the electric company to do it. If you can access the batteries in the solar rig easily and they are in the correct voltage range, I think you would be better off getting a battery tender (trickle charger). Just let the van sit outside until the batteries are fully charged, then connect the battery tender to keep it fully charged.

That is correct the solar panel will charge the RV battery which is connected to an inverter. This converts the DC power to AC for the AirCon.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much. Very helpful."
If you connect to solar panel for the lights to go on do the lights go out at night? If so, and the they do not light when hooked to the batteries then the batteries may have no charge and may also not be holding a charge. Put in new batteries to test.
