ihave the same problem!on my WindowsEXP/professional.when i go in the Device manager click on the devicedrivers, windows tells me the device drivers can't be loaded. The Drivers, are either corrupted or missing.so i tried the un-install/booted the computer.went back to thedevice manager, the system had re-installed it.Still, it doesnt work.i 'm thinking, that some-how,the drivers appl-file is missing from te hard-drive.perhaps deleted,by mistake, within another program.is it possible? What should i do?I have tried everything, short of re-installingExP/Pro.what a head-ache!

From the desktop, right click on My Computer and select Properties. In the System Properties, browse to the Hardware tab and select Device Manager.

In there, expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives and right click on the appropriate hardware and select Uninstall. Click on OK when prompted.

Reboot the computer. After entering the desktop environment, the computer should start installing the drivers for the DVD/CD-ROM automatically (after startup applications are registered).

Hope this helps :) Kindly leave a rating. Thanks..

Hi I'm Rain ,
Ok follow these instructions to reboot your CD Rom drive.

  1. click start then My Computer .
  2. In My Computer right click the DVD/CD rom drive icon .
  3. In the list , Click eject to see if the drive is being reconized .
  4. If nothing happens repeat steps 1-2
Now when you get to sep 3 you will click properties .

5. In properties click Hardware .

6. In Hardware click the DVD/CD device to highlight it .

7. Click properties .

Now look to the bottom of that window to see device status .
If it says , this device is working properly .Properties .
Next click Driver . In driver you will see a list of option tabs that allows you to , Roll Back driver Update driver and Disable driver .
The other option is Driver Details.

Click Roll Back driver to restore the driver back to the state before you added the latest program . Click ok and follow the screen instructions.
If this fails , you can follow these steps to get back to Driver and chose
Disable Driver . Click ok if another window pops up.
Now what you are doing is rebooting the DVD/CD rom drive.
This will restart all the drivers that are associated with the DVD/CD rom
device .
Now follow all the steps again to get back to Driver .
Now in Driver you will need to click Enable to restart the DVD/CD rom
device . Reboot your system and try the DVD/ CD tray to see if it responds . If it still fails to respond you most likely will need to replace or service the DVD/CD Rom Hardware { the Tray } .
