My washing machine makes a loud whining/spinning sound when it is in the spin cycle. But the drum is still spinning normally. It almost sounds like a bearing but I am not sure.
The water pump may be going bad...Yes it probably is a bearing. Take the belt loose and try turning each pully until you find one that makes noise or is hard to turn. Pump and motor should both spin very easily with out noise.
