I'm presuming it's out of warranty - otherwise that would be the first thing to try.
Next step - if you're feeling adventurous is to take it apart and yes - replace the batteries in there. This will not be easy - as they want you to buy a new unit, however, tagged batteries are available in all sorts of sizes and shapes.
You just need to identify the right type and solder them in - Get them the right way round !
Although the makers recommend you leave it on charge - it's not actually good for the batteries to do this.
Charge the shaver, then remove and use it untill speed drops - then recharge.
They say 1000 charges - but a year of daily use is about it.
