Thankyou and that is correct...sound, but no picture when I go to Ant B, Imput 3 and also Ant A. Imput 1 and 2 are working fine, though.

  • markusz Nov 28, 2007

I do have the cable hooked up via coax as well, through the VCR. Keep in mind that Imput 3 has the same prob. I think you were on to it with the first response. Is it difficult to change out the IC on that TV? Are the connections soldered? Thx again

  • markusz Nov 29, 2007

I tried hooking the cable directly to both A and B and there is still only sound. Imput 3 is a regular AV (red, green and blue). Inputs 1 and 2 are the only component imputs and they are the only one imputs that work properly. All imputs worked properly once the way it is currently set up. Is it possible that I changed a setting and caused this? I don't think so as I have tried all optional settings to no avail...

  • markusz Nov 29, 2007

Sorry, I mis-typed my last post. Imput 3 was supposed to read regular AV (yellow, red, white). Imput 1 and 2 are component and Imput 3 is regular.

  • markusz Nov 29, 2007

Just to add another thing...tried the regular AV on Imput 1 just to see if it would work and it doesn't and assume regular AV on Imput 2 doesn't either . So only the component AV's work on the TV and that's it.

  • markusz Nov 29, 2007

Just to clarify what you probably already know...Imput 1 and 2 have both regular and component AV's.

Do you have a final solution?

Theres a digital switch IC on or near the AV panel that needs to be replaced if I`m understanding your question correctly you go into menu and switch to Ant. B & there is sound but no picture correct? If this is correct the IC will have to be replaced or it`s supply voltage is missing.

Markusz, you mentioned that Ant. A&B don`t work, but video input 1 & 2 work, this sounds like your only connection from your cable box to your tv is rca cables (yellow, red, white) Do you have a coax cable coming "out" of the cable box and screwed onto Antenna A or B ? If not thats why it isn`t working, you`ll notice that a coax cable (usually black or white cable) is coming from the wall INTO your cable box, you need another one coming from the "out to tv" of the cable box to Ant. A or B on the tv to make the tuner work.

the IC`s are usually 16 pin and yes soldered in, AV jack panel usually has to be removed from set also, one more question, is AV 3 regular AV (color coded yellow, red, white) or component RGB ? (red, green, blue). Seems VERY strange that BOTH ant A& B don`t work, I would hook the cable coming from the wall directly to the tv and make sure menu is set to A and try it then to B and try it, makes no sense 2 tuners are fried. If you have the expertise to un-solder & re-solder the IC let me know and I`ll try to find the location # and part # for your switching IC.

markusz, I believe that input 3 is component, 1&2 are regular video, take a flashlight and check the color of the female jacks, (not the cables), component on back of cable box is colored red, green & blue and same thing on back of tv, you must use component cable (red, grn.,blue ends) at this connection. hard to write out everything in this small box, do u have your owners manual? It will show proper hook-up. Once properly hooked up your remote should switch thru vid1, vid2, which should be yellow red and white, vid3, red, grn, blue then rf which is coax cable for channels, tv of course has to be on channel 3 or 4 whichever your box requires, and then u change channels on the box, if all else fails call the cable company and have them come out, they definitely can tell u if it`s the hook-up or the tv.

Trying to connect pc with hdmi cable have great picture no sound on TV Used HDMI imput 7 tried imput 6 with hdmi and audio imput from PCF to TV still picture and no sound any suggestions

Hi Scott,

On your PC, you'll need to go into the Control Panel --> Hardware & Sound --> Sound (Windows 7) and click on "Playback". Here, you'll need to change the sound settings to reflect the audio to be handled by the video card / audio chipset / HDMI jack on the motherboard. You should also check for other settings such as Digital Output that are usually associated with and HDMI jack on the card and not an analog jack.

As it is now (or is likely to be the case anyway) the picture is being handled by the HDMI on the video card / motherboard; but the audio is still coming from the the speaker jack(s) on the motherboard or audio card. Making the changes above will redirect the audio from the speaker jack(s) to the HDMI jack instead.

Good luck!

Hi, take out the dvd player from port 1 and try the Wii in port 2 or 3 if the picture is good on the wii then you will need to get a 1 way scart lead for the DVD, not a fully populated one as these can cause interference between video inputs.

Hope this helps

Imput problems with Samsung DLP TV

The parts required for this are available but difficult to find. The overall repair is not that difficult for anyone that has fixed these before. You'll spend more time getting to the jack than replacing it. Try calling Samsung parts and give them the model as well as the circuit designation of the jack. This designation will be written on the PC board. For less than $5 you should be able to get the jack. Ask a local service shop to install for you and you are off and running.

Imput analog audio to Vista laptop via HP ExpressCard TV Tuner

Perhaps this device at creative.com (The link provided for you) or something similiar will do the trick for you.
http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=668&product=16186&nav=1

It connects to a USB port. You have 2 on the right side of your laptop. The device has two RCA ports which should provide the connections you seek.

A device like this one or similiar should give you the best "Quality" audio transfer.

But if cost is more of an issue, you can find "Patch cables" at you local electronics store to go from RCA jacks to stereo headphone jack this will allow you to port the information in through your Microphone jack.

Hopefully this helped you,
Dave
