Front air compressor on mh will not kick on hum only

    does the fan start before the compressor tries to start the fan does not operate if set at fan only thanks

    I that AC unit hasn't been running for a while, try going up on roof, take a long stick or thin rod with you and and try poking it through the openings and turn the fan at the rear , a few complete rotations, then have someone inside, after you take stick or whatever out, try starting it in fan mode & see if fan runs. If it does, let it run for 5 minutes or so, and then try it with AC on. Sometimes the fan will get a dead spot from sitting, and this usually gets it going again. If not, take cover on roof off, (watch for bees & wasps) and give fan a good spin by hand. If it still won't go after that, you need a new fan start capacitor. Keep me posted. I"ve had about 10 units this year that did the same thing and 80% are fine after spinning the fan. Just make sure when you get it working again, to use it once in a while to keep everything working.
