SOURCE: electrolux ewf1074 error e40

I've just bought one of these machines, and the manual says the E40 warning means the door is not properly closed. Seems like that would be obvious if it were true, but maybe check that it is closing completely.

E40 fault on zanussi washing machine is it worth repairing or to buy a new one 8-9 yrs old ?

A Zanussi E40 error usually indicates "Door open.Check interlock and associated wiring check door latch, check module and connections." However, what most people don't know is that most manufacturers route the poser to the door interlock through the same curcuit that powers up the carbon brushes on the motor. So if your motor brushes are worn down, the door won't lock. Your machine is about the right age for its brushes to be worn out, so I would check this out first. Motor brushes are cheap, easily available on Ebay and fairly easy to fit. Take the current brushes out, if they are less that three quarters of a centimeter long, changing them is a highly likely fix for your problem

Lavamat 72640 will not pass 24min on wash timer. sometimes it will show a E40 code but not always.

Hi.

on Oko washing machines E40 means defective door lock. Since a faulty door lock switch may go out with vibration you often do not get the error all the time. The door lock switch must be tested and eventually replaced.

Error codes E40 andE70 showing on model zwf1640s(zanussi)

E40 is an error from the door locking mech (interlock).this is the bit behind the port hole door frame at approx 3 o clock pos, where the door striker pin goes through hole.

Held on with 2 screws and you need to remove plastic clamp from door gasket to gain access.

Check the Door Switch/interlock or the WIRING for failure in this case and repair as necessary.
