These issues means it's broken non fixable with hair styler electronics.they are cheap...buy a new one.do not put a heated device that's broken on your hair...You could burn your hair off!

That depends on several things.

1- how MUCH time? 2 to 5 years? thats acceptable.
2- How has it been stored? If exposed to extreme teperatures or sunlight then I would avoid it.
3- you may have warranty issues with the older model.

If its just last years model on the retail shelf, I see no downside at all really. The warranty would still apply from date of purchace.
