Viking husqvarna Sewing machine model 60 10 reduction gear problem

When pulling out the bobbin winding spindle, the machine jams and hand wheel does not turn. I am hoping this is just a cleaning and adjustment situation.

I have found that my bobbin doesn't always click into place. In this case, it can stitch for about 4 stitches before freezing.

SOURCE: Bobbin problem: Huskystar by Husqvarna Viking E10 sewing machine

This has happened to me, even though I have been sewing for 30 yrs. When I take the bobbin holder out I realise what I have done wrong. When placing a bobbin into the bobbin holder the thread must be running around the bobbin CLOCKWISE. If incorrect take bobbin out of holder turn it over, so now the thread will run clockwise. If bobbin placed in holder and thread runs anti-clockwise, when you tried to turn wheel to bring bobbin thread up, it will either not do it at all or will make a huge tangle of the threads. SOURCE: Bobbin tension on Viking 350 Sewing Machine

Viking bobbin case tension adjustment:
When the bobbin runs out, sometimes it bends the bobbin case tension spring. Then tension is too light. Take the bobbin case out of the machine. Tie the loose bobbin thread to the Designer 1 needle plate. Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case. Here’s the tricky part set the bobbin case on the table as if it’s in the machine (Bobbin is visible and sitting horizontal to table top) threaded as if sewing and loose end tied to needle plate (that is removed from the machine). Lift the bobbin case off the table rotate it so that the flat side of the bobbin are vertical to the table and no longer horizontal. Have the bobbin case oriented so that the thread coming out of the bobbin case sprint (slot area where it is put for sewing) is at the top. Lift it high enough that the needle plate is lifted from the table. It should not release thread unless you shake it gently and then a very small amount of thread. The needle plate is the exact weight resistance your bobbin case should have on the thread.

SOURCE: bobbin spindle won't spin

Check the bobbin winder rubber, it may be worn or broken and insufficient friction against handwheel to turn.........or a thread jam around spindle is stopping the spin. In this case, carefully unwind, DO NOT cut thread.

SOURCE: viking husqvarna classica 100, thread tension

I suspect you are correctly threading the machine but the timing of the needle and bobbin hook is off. When the threaded needle goes into the bobbin area, a pointed hook grabs the thread and loops it with the bobbin thread. Something is catching when the needle starts to come up that is not allowing the bobbin thread to be pulled back through the needle plate opening by the upper thread. With machine threaded and bobbin in place, have the bobbin area open if possible and watch the thread interaction when the needle goes down. To set the hook/needle timing, normally covers have to be removed. Suggest taking it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service. You can find the nearest dealer by click on the "Dealer" link at http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.

SOURCE: Singer Sewing Machine model 9224. Bobbin thread

If you turn the handwheel, can you see a metal ring rotating around the outer edge of the bobbin case? If not rotating, broken gear or timing belt off.
If that ring is turning, remove the needle plate and bobbin case. As this ring now rotates, you will a finger on the ring that will pass behind the needle from right to left and it should catch the thread from the eye of the needle. If this finger, the "hook" passes above the eye, you have a timing problem.

Let me know.

I have a Viking lily545 sewing machine. Just filled a bobbin but it will not release it. Ideas? Thank you

If you are unable to pull the full bobbin off of the bobbin winder, take the thread of off the bobbin and it should come off easily.
If the thread has too much tension during winding or if wound at full speed, it can cause the bobbin to be compressed on the spindle and it won't come off. I recommend throwing away the bobbin just in case it was deformed in the process.
Wind at 1/2 to 3/4 speed in the future and make sure that it is threaded properly for bobbin winding.

How to wind a bobbin for a 250 electronic Viking Husqvarna machine

Make sure that the presser foot is raised if you are winding a bobbin with the top thread threaded through the needle. Place the bobbin on the spool spindle with the mark (a stylized H) outwards. Bring the bobbin spindle down. Next pull the thread from the needle under the presser foot to the thread guide on the right. Bring the thread above the bobbin and wrap the thread around the bobbin several times. Cut off the excess thread on the thread knife and step on the foot control to wind the bobbin. When the bobbin winding is finished, remove the bobbin from the spindle. Cut the thread to separate the bobbin thread from the needle thread. Move the bobbin spindle up.

Sewingpartsonline.com has a link to the manual for the Husqvarna Viking 250 on the machine specific parts page (under Manuals), http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/viking-250-sewing-machine-parts.aspx . The direct link to the manual is http://manuals.husqvarnaviking.com/VSM/Husqvarna%20Viking/HVManual.nsf/5bc6115484660075c12575d2003f80e3/ecf97dd171581582852575ed00755e7a/$FILE/Viking%20210,%20230,%20250%20%20x.PDF . The bobbin winding steps are on page 12. There is also a method for winding a bobbin with a different thread from the top thread. See the manual.

I hope this helps.

I just inherited another Huqvarna (this is a model 630). It was working great until I wound a bobbin on it. After I removed the filled bobbin the machine won't move the needle up and down (but the bobbin...

I do not know the Husqvarna Viking 630. However, I have used the Viking 6690 and it has a similar on-the-side bobbin winding routine. I suspect that you failed to move the bobbin winding mechanism back into the sewing position. Look closely at the area around the bobbin winding spindle. It looks like there is a lever below the spindle. Does this need to be moved or rotated? Double check the steps in the manual and check that you did the opposite steps of preparing to wind the bobbin.

On the 6690, you pull out a knob after removing the bobbin. (You push this piece in and put the bobbin onto the now exposed spindle for winding.)

I hope this helps.

Winding a bobin

That's how that machine works. You don't loosen the hand wheel or anything, Simply put the bobbin on the winder and go.

How Need to know how to thread the machine and how

They have many different models so threading and winding the bobbin can vary due to your model. I would recommend calling them at: 1-800-474-6437 and see if they can get you a photo copy of your original owners manual.

Bobbin does not wind all the way up

I have had this problem, easily fixed by twisting the rubber knob that is in contact with the spool to the left.

Bobbin winder is only thing that works

What model are you talking about? For my older Husqvarna machine you had to pull the bobbin winding bit out to wind the bobbin, then push it back in when you were done.
