Question about ASUS K8N4-E Deluxe Motherboard
I have a problem with my computer. I have an Asus k8n4-e deluxe motherboard/ 1.5 gb ram/ati radeon x1300/2 maxtor hdd 120 gb. My problem is that after I cleaned my computer of dust it won't power my keyboard or the keyboard gets stuck after the bios phase of booting. its a ps2 keyboard I know USB has some problems in DOS but still. Everything started with an error of one of my windows/system32 files and I thought it needed a format. No problem there. But I can't format it as long as I cant press any key to boot from cd :)). Anyway, interesting is the fact that I brought the boot HDD to one of my friends and it worked. So it won't work on my computer. The keyboard is fine aswell. RAM is fine aswell. Processor i think its fine. I have no idea about the motherboard. Maybe its something wrong with it. I cleaned the computer by blowing in it not with a vacuumer.:P Hope u guys can help me out. Thanks!
Check the pins on the keyboard plug in and make sure one of them is not bent and not plugging in. Barring that, try another ps2 keyboard from another working pc. If the new keyboard doesn't work I would have to say the ps2 jack on the motherboard is not functioning. Fortunatly as the other poster said you can still use a usb keyboard. Another thing to try is check if any lights are coming on on the keyboard when the pc powers up. Also try plugging into the mouse port with the keyboard and you should see some lights on the keyboard. This will tell if the plug on the keyboard is good or not. Obviously the keyboard will not work in this port but it will send power to the keyboard.
