The toner cartridge is not installed, or the printer detects a toner cartridge error. The error is caused by a defective cartridge, an unsupported cartridge an invalid refill, or a cartridge meant to be used in another geographic region.
If the toner cartridge is not installed, install it. If the toner cartridge is installed, remove it and install a new toner cartridge.
For Cartridge errors, Press and release the right button twice briefly to display secondary error codes.

I think that spring must have gotten loose that holds the cartridge in place, right hand side, put it back where it belongs, might want to compare with the other, black cartridge side. Good Luck!
I assume something has happened during a print job and you are seeing this message on the 6110's control panel display. Either there's a "clog" in the flow of ink or an issue with the electrical contacts between the cartridge and the print carriage. Unfortunately, HP.com doesn't list this error message on the web page for 6110 errors.
You can go to the following web page and follow the instructions to clean the electrical contacts I mentioned. The problem you are seeing can also be caused by an incorrectly installed ink cartridge or one where the protective tape strip was not removed before installation.
The latter is likely if you see this error message right after you've put in a new ink cartridge. It's easy to put the cartridge in incorrectly or not to correctly latch it in place. It's also really common to forget to take the tape off before installing the cartridge.
I had this same problem and by a luck I fixed it. Not sure if the method to the madness had anything to do with it, but I'll put it down in the order that I did everything.
1. reset to factory defaults
2. pulled all cartridges out. it prompted me to put color in first, then black. message was still blinking so i took out color and put it back in again.
3. i did the partial reset by holding down cancel and left arrow while i unplugged/replugged the printer.
4. no the printer started displaying "remove and check color cartridge" (or something to that degree)
5. i took out color cartridge, cleaned the contacts with water on towel, and replaced cartridge.
6. same message still being displayed, but it allowed me to print a maintenance report. so i then cleaned cartridges and aligned cartridges through standard menu.
7. msg still being displayed, so i turned off/on printer again. this time it came back up with no message at all.
8. printer now works
hope this helps and works for ya'll too!
The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error.
Solution
This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display.
If the LCD display reads Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall , the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
Clean the color cartridge contacts.
Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the color cartridge.
OR
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
Reinsert the color cartridge.
Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the black or photo cartridge.
Remove and then reinsert the cartridge indicated in the error message.
If the error is still displayed, clean the contacts.
If the error message is Error. Remove and Check Black or Photo Cartridge , the following steps may help:
Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the printer access door.
Turn off the unit by pressing the On button on the front panel. Wait for the printer to completely shut down.
Turn the printer back on by pressing the On button.
When the message display reads Insert Print Cartridges , open the access door and replace the cartridges.
If neither of the steps above fixed the problem, either the cartridge or the printer is faulty
Once remove both the cartridges from the all-in-one and then clean the copper contacts of the cartridges and then put only black cartridge and check for the message displayed on the all-in-one if it even reads check right cartridge then the issue is with the all-in-one hardware. If it reads insert right or color cartridge then the issue seems to be with the cartridge.
Remove the cartridges from the all-in-one and power cycle the all-in-one and then reset.
Now insert the cartridge and check for the result. If the issue still persists then check the expiry date on the cartridge and once replace the cartridge and check for the result.
Remove each of your cartridges one at a time and see if you can spin the toner rollers by pushing on the little white plastic gears with your finger. They will be tight but you should be able to spin the roller by moving the little gears around.
My printer started giving the Fatal Error Code 17H and I did all the removal of the four color cartridges and re-seating each of them to no avail. After removing each cartridge and checking to see if I could rotate the toner roller I found that the yellow cartridge was extremely tight. I took the cartridge outside and used a can of compressed air to blow all the toner off the roller and tapped the cartridge on all corners and shook it back and forth several time. Finally I was able to get the toner roller so that it would rotate when pushing the little white gears like the other three cartridges.
After replacing the cartridge in the printer it worked with no more error codes. Hopefully this will fix the problem until I can order a new yellow cartridge.
