First of all, make sure you have your computer plugged in to one of the four ports in the router and not to the port thats all byitself.

Once you do that, do you see a light on the corresponding port ? If yes, try going to the page again.. It should prompt you for the login details of the router.

If this doesnt work, try resetting your router and try again.

Im having trouble hooking up my wireless connection.

1. Open a web browser on the computer.

2. In the address bar of the web browser, type

3. Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.

4. Click on "Connection Type" under Internet WAN

5. Choose the appropriate connection as provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and press "Next"

6. You will need to enter the settings as provided by your ISP. If you have options such as Encapsulation and MTU, then these should be set to VCMUX and 1454.

7. Once all of the appropriate settings have been entered, you may click on "Apply Changes". Your Modem Router will now save this data and attempt to connect to the Internet.
Your Modem Router should now show you that the "Internet Status" is "Connected" in the top right-hand corner of the interface. On some Modem Routers you may need to select the "Connect" button found on the "Home" page.

Whats the security code? and how do i lock it from other people using my linksys.

You can set the password by logging into the router. You can do this via your web browser. You will need to type the router's IP address (the default address is into the browser's address bar. You will then be prompted to enter the current (or default) username and password for the router. After you have successfully logged in, you should be able to navigate to the appropriate section and change the password to one of your own choosing.

Web site becomes inaccessible after it had been working. Same website is accessible through the modem if the router is removed.

This should help...if it was working earlier

Use the following steps to reset the router using this method:
  1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of your router. By default, the address is “′.
  2. Enter your user ID And password when prompted. Hopefully this has been changed, but if it hasn’t, the default is no ID and “admin” as the password.
  3. At the top of the Web page, click “Administration” and then “Factory Defaults”.
  4. Beside “Restore Factory Defaults”, click “Yes”.
  5. Now click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the Web page.
Your WRT54G wireless router should now be reset to the factory defaults.

I need to get port forwarding info from a retired netopia 4541 adsl router. does it have a web interface or do I need to use telnet?

Telent is usually not an option these modems but will depend on the service provider if this feature was set up. Plug in and connect a PC to the LAN side of the modem. Refresh the network connection on the PC you connected to get the IP address from the modem. Once this is completed, open a web browser up. In the address enter and this should take you to the modem's management page as this is what most DSL modems use. Make sure to have your old user name and password as most modems will prompt for this.

D-link setup problem

The light internet must be solid, but the light of "activity" will be blinking according of your activity
If you can not get connection, check your settings.

When entering the IP address of the D-Link modem ( for example), you are not connecting to a website on the Internet or have to be connected to the Internet. The device has the utility built-in to a ROM chip in the device itself.

Note: Your computer must be on the same IP subnet to connect to the web-based utility.

Here are a a few steps to try if you are unable to access the web-based configuration utility:

1. Make sure you have an updated Java-enabled web browser.
We recommend the following:
• Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
• Netscape 8 or higher
• Mozilla 1.7.1 (5.0) or higher
• Opera 8.5 or higher
• Safari 1. or higher (with Java 1.3.1 or higher)
• Camino 0.8.4 or higher
• Firefox 1.5 or higher

2. Verify physical connectivity by checking for solid link lights on the device. If you do not get a solid link light, try using a different cable or connect to a different port on the device if possible. If the computer is turned off, the link light may not be on.

3. Disable any internet security software running on the computer. Software firewalls such as Zone Alarm, Black Ice, Sygate, Norton Personal Firewall, and Windows® XP firewall may block access to the configuration pages.

Note: Check the help files included with your firewall software for more information on disabling or configuring it.

4. Configure your Internet settings using the following steps:

Step 1 Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel.

Step 2 Double-click the Network and Internet Connections Icon.

Step 3 Click on the Internet Options Icon.

Step 4 From the Security tab, click the Default Level button to restore the settings to their defaults.

Step 5 Click the Connection tab and set the dial-up option to Never Dial a Connection.

Step 6 Click the LAN Settings button. Make sure nothing is checked. Click OK.

Step 7 Go to the Advanced tab and click the Restore Defaults button to restore these settings to their defaults. Click OK.

Step 8 Close your web browser (if open) and open it.

Step 9 Access the web management. Open your web browser and enter the IP address of your D-Link modem in the address bar. This should open the login page for your the web management.

Step 10 If you still cannot access the configuration, unplug the power to the modem for 10 seconds and plug back in. Wait about 30 seconds and try accessing the configuration. If you have multiple computers, try connecting using a different computer.
