I have an Onkyo 606 Receiver which is now about 6 months old. One of the HDMI inputs doesn't appear to be picking up sound although the video is fine. I've tried using a different hdmi cable and using a different source but the problem persists with the input regardless of whether the source is my DVD or satellite box - both of which work fine through the other inputs.

Q-tip and RUBBING ALCOHOL (anything else will damage the connection) very carefully clean out the input. then use a vaccum on low setting and place it over the input and pull out whatever debris is left. repeat if need be. In the future if you want to protect any connection on the avr or any component you may have place a piece of tape over the input to keep dirt or dust out. the q-tip and rubbing will clean up the tape when you go to use that particular connection.Home theater has been my hobby since 1993,the above is what I know to work.hope this helps you.

No sound from new sony uhd tv on the Onkyo sr606 receiver when watching smart content like netflix.

Hi AB, best way to accomplish this would be to go from the TV's audio output to any open audio input on the 606 and just be sure that you assign the source to the input. If you require further assistance please feel free to give us a call at 800-229-1687, also note that we offer a trade in program if you are looking to upgrade to a newer receiver, please email me your current units serial number and I will advise if it qualifies for the program. You can email me at [email protected], Thanks, JT

Onkyo receiver is not starting up hdmi from receiver to tv

run an HDMI cable from TV direct to DVD or other HD source instead of going through Onkyo. If it works, you have a bad HDMI output on the Onkyo. If not you may have a bad cable or a bad port on TV. Then try a different HDMI input on TV.

I have a new Samsung 47 in LCD and Kenwood DVD purchased in 2005. I am trying to hook both up to get surround sound from my Kenwood VR-606. My signal is coming from a HD cable box. I'm using HDMI from the...

Without additional equipment it can't be done. As i see your VR-606 pure analog device, and you trying to somehow use 5.1 sound from HD STB that is on HDMI put on RCA connectors of your VR-606. It is impossible without converter from HDMI to Analog audio or something likethis, best way to buy new receiver with HDMI input and TV neither Receiver with HDMI out oportunity. Then you will have your home cinema. In your current setup probably you can play only with stereo from your stb.

I have an Onkyo HT-S6100 home theater not sending picture to TV.

I just fixed mine with the same problem. Apparently, the HT-R667 and 606 receiver that comes with 6100 has a problem with the HDMI board. Onkyo wanted $500 dollars to fix it, costed me $16. Here's how to fix it. http://www.highdefforum.com/high-definition-receivers-recorders-players-tivos/121956-repairing-onkyo-htr667-aka-606-a.html

I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590 Blu Ray player via HDMI to pass through my Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver. I get video if I connect Blu Ray player directly to TV, and have tried all HDMI ports...

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Thanks for using FixYa!

HDMI "blackout" issue

There is no "self fix" your receiver is HDMI version 1.1, 1.2, or 1.2a. Has a board problem from HDMI. It can be repaired and upgraded to version 1.3b which is the current format that seems to work in all scenerios. If your receiver is still under warranty the fix is N/C. If not, call Onkyo Customer support, alot of AV receivers pre 09' have this same issue and if you raise enough eyebrows, you may be able to get it done at N/C. I know it's not what you want to hear, but that's what's happening to alot of people! Hope this helps

No audio sound from HDMI connection from TV to Onkyo 606 amp.

you have the output of the receiver going to the input of the TV?

i believe that you should be running the TV output to the receiver input to get your sound from the TV to the receiver and thus speakers.

the easiest setup is to just run your cable box and DVD player HDMI's into your TV inputs. then run another HDMI from the TV output to the receiver input.

Cant get sound out of the receiver on the sat input

Have you selected the appropriate input type? (e.g. Optical, HDMI?)

Some receivers (like my Onkyo 606) support HDMI passthrough, but will not decode audio signals from HDMI. Making it a pretty useless port!

Do you get sound when you select FM Tuner on the Pioneer?

Ps3 defaults to 576p when connected through onkyo 606 receiver

You have to tell the PS3 what the Okyo can do and it probably cannot do 1080P 60Hz (but can likely do 1080P 24Hz).  Try ticking more resolutions in the PS3s setup
