Both of you have to be on Skype or another messenger and have you camera Audio & Video setup.

Download Skype and install the program on your s and their computer. See info below, should help.

Let me know and I will help you get it going.

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: You audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

You will require a firewire cable.
Usually a 4 pin to 6 pin cable. 4 pin to camera 6 pin to computer, assuming you PC has a fireiwre socket.
PC computer have Movie Maker as part of the OS.
Connect with the above cable and you should be good to go.

How to connect Hitachi camcoder with laptop

Connecting to PC via PC Connection Cable
Use the provided PC connection cable to connect the DVD video camera/recorder to PC as shown in the last.

• No data can be written to the HDD, disc or SD memory card in this DVD video camera/recorder when it is connected to PC.
• The PC connection cable does not supply power to the DVD video camera/recorder: Use the AC adapter/charger
to power the DVD video camera/recorder.
• Before connecting the DVD video camera/recorder to PC, disconnect any cables or camera accessories (external
video flash, external microphone, etc.) other than the PC connection cable and AC adapter/charger.
• When connecting the DVD video camera/recorder to PC, the ACCESS/PC indicator will light green. While HDD or
a disc is being accessed, the indicator will light or blink orange. While an SD memory card is being accessed, the
CARD ACCESS indicator will light or blink red.

If you connect the DVD video camera/recorder to PC via PC connection cable, the PC will automatically recognise the DVD video camera/recorder. After recognition is finished, it may be
prompted to restart the PC: In this case, follow the instruction and restart the PC.

Hi There, Can someone please help me! As I mentioned earlier that I am given a SONY DCR PC 101E camcorder. It came with a fire wire cable. May I know how do I download my video to my Windows 7 OS laptop...

You would needs to install the Sony software that came with the camera for transferring the video from your cam to computer.
First you will need to install the software, during installation it will prompt you to connect the camera. Once you connect the camera thru the Firewire port the installation will proceed and you will be able to download the Video from Camera to the computer.

For any additional assistance feel free to write back.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

The same thing happened to me

Sounds like your camera driver has been messed up.

Uninstall your camera and reinstall, this should reinstall the driver, thus fixing your issue.

Trying to tranfer digital video camera video to my computer

I think you may need to connect the camera via Firewire, I've checked the specs of your camera and it seems to be minidv and has a firewire port. A lot of video editing software will not detect your camera unless it is connected via the firewire port. you need to check if your pc has one first of all you can do this by going to control panel/ network connections and see if there's an icon for 1394 Connection if there is then you have firewire, so you then need to see which type of socket it is on your pc and on your camera and purchase a suitable cable. Take a look here for a reference If you don't have firewire you can buy a firewire pci card that will slot into your computer which will contain 3 or 4 ports.
