Doesn't turn on

I attached my Samsung SyncMaster 940MW 19" onto my computer since september. Then one day i had it on, i went away for an hour i came back and it was off. so i pressed the power button but the monitor didn't turn on. Nothing works. The power supplie doesn't seem to fead it, i tried another cable, it didn't work; i tried another plug, it didn't work.
Can you help me to find out what my problem is and fixe it? I really don't want to bu a new one. Because my familly think it's me who broke it whereas i wasn't there when it stoped working.
Thank you

I have the same exact problem. This is the second time this monitor breaks... the first one I had to end it to samsung for repairing.

Sometimes it is possible to power it on if you first unplug it for some time (some hours to couple of days maybe).

This monitor has great quality but is a lot fragile :-(

Same Model, same problem. I send to repair it twice, and i was the second ( the first present the same problem 5 days after i buy it so my vendor they replace it)

I am having the same exact problem. Although I purchased mine from Best Buy in June of 2006, I kept my receipts. I called customer service and they are sending me another one at no charge. They gave me a choice of either repairing the one I have or replacing it with new. I checked all the power cords and connections and there seems to be no power available to the unit at all. I plugged in a different monitor to the same cpu and there was no problem. I plugged the 940mw into a different CPU and the same problem occurred,...no power. This unit apparently comes with a 3 year parts and labor warranty...so if I were you...I would opt to have a new one sent.

ive had mine since may 5th 2006 and its lately been that whenever i turn it off it wont turn back on and it becomes really annoying =p about 4 months ago uit would start taking about 5-10 minutes of me pressing the power button before it would turn on now i have been at this for about 4 hours unplugged waited replugged hooked up to different monitors, etc and it still wont turn on im looking for my reciept but still being a teen i tend to throw away receipts after i get home and turn it on.

Me to, bought mine about a month ago, about 3 days ago it started screwing up and now it will barley work for 5 minutes. My model was made in October 2006, don’t know if there was a run of bad monitor created then, but I really hope the new one they send me doesn't do the same.

I called up Samsung Thursday evening and the guy I spoke to said I would get my new monitor in about 4-5 days.

Would also like to ask, that is if there is anyone reading this that has already got a replacement from samsung. Have you had anymore problems with your montor since then.

    Thanks

Unknownlegen just phone your region of Samsung, Your 3 year warranty should still be valid, and the person I spoke to on the phone said that the people exchanging my monitor wont need to see any paper, Just need the screen and the stand. I can't speak for outside the UK, but I would imagine it will be the same.

Yesterday got my replacement TV. It took about a week for them to get it to me, seems to work better then the one I had before. For instants when I first set up my first TV, it took a while and a bit of playing around with it until it even reacted to the remote, not mentioning the first DVD I tried through the HD-DVI caused it to turn off. This new one worked striate away and I have had no problems with it as of yet.

That is a hell know problem with the 940MW tv/monitors. The power supply has failed because of parts called capacitors have shorted. If you can solder then you should be able to repair your monitor. Here is a link to the repair guide for this issue.

I wasn't able to find a 940MW. I do see a 941MW and a 940NW.
The 941MW manual has some basic instructions on page 36.

The 940NW manual can be found here.

Good luck!
