Well, the freezer side of my Kenmore Side by Side is like the Artic and is forming crystals on everything inside. The frig side is way to warm. It does go through it's defrost cycle if I advance the defrost timer but, I'm not sure if it's actually doing the defrost or not ( that is not sure if the coils are heating up ). Do I need to tear this thing apart to figure this out or is a replacement of say the defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat or the bar that adjusts the ducting from one side to the other. Basically what is the most common cause of this problem. Thanks for any help on this. I really don't feel like spending the big bucks on a new one since it's the holiday season and I haven't got the change to spare.
Heating in the Arctic . . .

Docjohn174,
Thanks for the reply. Even though it is almost a year later . . . the really REALLY bizarre thing is that this JUST happened a week ago again!! Very strange . . . does docjohn have a remote for my fridge . . . So, I did the rip apart defrost the the icebergs and put it back together. Looks like it is almost a year from the last time. I'll look into buying and replacing the defrost thermostat. Although, I'm now thinking that my wife or children are blocking the lower pass through vent enough throughout the year to cause this problem to happen. Thanks again for the reply.
Peace.

This is bizarre that it took a year for a reply but, it JUST HAPPENED last week!!! I think docjohn may have a remote to my frig . . .
Anyway. I'll look into getting a defrost thermostat. I took it apart - melted away all the ice - dryed things up - and reassembled. I think it may be a case of my family members covering up the return vent on the fridge side causing this to happen over a years time.
If the thermostat is cheap enough I'll give that a go.
Thanks again and amazing timing!!
