Question about Uniden TRU9480 Cordless Telephone

1 Answer

Power stuck For some reason, one of my handsets remains lit, like when I make or receive a call, and does not go back to a "slumber" mode. It does not respond to key strokes so I cannot make a call on that handset. I removed and unplugged the battery and then replugged it in, and that seemed to fix the problem. What is going on here?

Phone is stuck on silent mode

"Silent Mode" is entered by pressing and holding the [ # ] key
on the handset for a few seconds.

The easy way to end "Silent Mode" is to go to the BASE and
press the [ANS ON/OFF] button to turn off the answering
machine system. (push the button, do not unplug the power)

"Silent Mode" will clear a moment later and you can again
turn on the answering machine system as desired.

Good luck!

Only bass set going extra hand set not working

This is because the extra handset might have not been registered with the base unit. The headset should be register to use the headset with that base unit.

To register the handset to base unit please follow the instruction:-

On registration the handset is allocated a handset number for use on the new base unit, the handset numbers are 1-5.

1. Press and hold
d65e3ff.jpgon the base unit until 608a95f.jpgstarts flashing. Registration mode will remain active for approximately 3 minutes.

2.Press and hold both
19efd34.jpg together until you hear a long beep.

3.Select the base unit you wish to register by pressing the corresponding number button 1-4.
4. When PIN is displayed, enter the units PIN number (0000 for this model).
5. If the registration is successful the handset will return to standby mode in a few seconds.

My phone is stuck on speakerphone. When I pick up...

There are two things to check that you can fix. First, try replacing the handset (curly) cord. A broken wire in the cord can make this happen. If that's not it, watch the hookswitch. That's the plunger that goes down when you put the handset in the cradle, and pops back up when you lift the handset. If it's stuck down, you will only get speaker and no sound in/out of the handset.

I have a phillips CD240 cordless phone, on the screen is flashing SEARCHING and wont make or receive calls.

Hi, I solved this issue this morning. "Searching" means the handset cannot find the signal from its base, and if you check your base, it's more likely than not, dead. In my case, I checked this by pressing any button on the base, i.e. answer phone etc., there was no response (although the handset seems to recharge power fine for some reason).

Therefore, I went and bought a new cheap GAP compatible (binatone 1800 Single at Comet - 14.99). I then set up the base, put it in the registration mode as per the binatone instruction. Then on the Phillips CD245 handset and gone through the above registration procedure... and Voila! It worked.

Now I have a brand new base that came with 1 new handset of its own, and 3 additional CD245 handsets which are all registered with this base. So far, the sound quality is good (no different from the previous genuine set) and they retained all the telephone numbers registered with the handset.

I don't have any high regards to binatone specifically as a brand because our last corded phone system was rubbish and died shortly after 12 months guarantee but to me it looks as if GAP compatible cordless phones have certain life-span however cheap or expensive they are (while handset seem to last much longer). Threrefore, there is more incentive to buy a cheap base new (of any make that are GAP Compatible) then connect your old handset to this base and live on 12 months manufacturer's guarantee and hopefully more. On the web, I saw some comments that are saying GAP Compatible phones and base sometimes do not successfully register each other (despite even being of the same make or brand). Obviously the users make such attempt at her/his own risk but I can confirm that the above combination worked for me.

Just for info, to do the registration successfully, the both base and handset must be in "Registering" mode. First, to get the base in the registration mode, you have to press <page> (a paging function for handset in case you cannot find where they are - usually button that says <page>or speaker with sound symbol on the base) more than 5 seconds, then the base is in the "Register Mode"(though you will hear no beep). You can then go through the procedure you describe on the handset and the handset should beep with assigned number no more than 10 seconds after it flashed "Waiting".

I hope this is helpful.

The above, however, works only if the Base is still functioning.

Heavy Static on phones. Can't hear caller. No caller ID

Room monitoring mode is basically a type of Intercom.

Press the *TONE/exit button on the handset to exit room monitor mode.

I will provide you with link to the user manual of the phone. Have a check at it. Might be useful.

How do you program phone for headset mode on sts phone and where do you plug it in?

Some phones have jack on the side of the phone. If it does not, you will need a standard telephone headset with amplifier. You will need a handset button (634) programmed on the phone. Then in programing Flash 50 button 4 you will need to disable speakerphone. Flash 50 button 18 determines the headset type: 0-is amplified unit plugged into handset cord, 1-is 2.5mm jack on side of phone,

To use handset, press handset button so it is lit, use on off to answer calls with the handset.

Base Unit unable to use

Your base has taken a strike to the processor and it is stuck trying to boot up. If you have cycled the power already and it stays stuck, it is not going to boot. Buying a replacement base (you can get just the base a little cheaper than the base/handset combo) and recycling your old one properly is the way to go if you want to get your base up anytime soon. Once you get a base, you will register your handsets to it, and reset your answering machine greetings, etc. If you have stored settings in your handsets such as the dialing directory, those will still be there. Just google "cordless telephone repair" and the first couple non sponsored links carry the base only. Good Luck
