i was working on my laptop and suddenly it was shut downd and then i should it to some one he told me that it does not find harddisk IDE controller on run time. my laptop is sony vaio vgn sz 460 n3

- harddisk is alright. and i have checked with my desktop system. yes my laptop can boot and also harddisk LED light flashes while booting. it takes time in booting and when i starts recovery it goes to some steps and then it hangs.Clarification Request

Can you boot up the laptop? Does the hard disk LED light flash when you boot up?
