The part is called a Display--it will cost more then the TV did new--if the Panel/display is damaged have a small service on your patio and buy a new TV.

If the LCD panel has been damaged then the tv is a write off, sorry.
Supplying and fitting a new panel will cost more than buying a replacement tv as it's overwhelmingly the single most expensive component. When you buy a new tv you are effectively buying a flat panel at a huge volume discount and all the other parts which make it a tv are thrown in for free.
The tv rental company I work for is the largest such business in the UK and only ever replaces broken panels by cannibalising other tv's which have been returned with other serious and unrepairable faults. In practice the panel is rarely swapped, what usually happens is that the broken screen tv donates its inner workings to a tv with a good panel and outer casing but with serious electronic faults (usually due to liquid damage). The panel only ever gets swapped over if the outer casing to the tv is cosmetically unacceptable.
The damage actually occurred on the LCD (liquid crystal display) itself, not on the screen. Therefore, when the tv is switched off, no damage is visible. What happens is that when it is turned on, the liquid crystals "leak" because the display is broken. This is why you can see lines and a small dent.
Depending on the tv, replacement LCD panels may be sold separately, though chances are that it would cost less to simply buy a new tv.
Thanks for your post, and I wish you the best of luck!
Sincerely,
Der Strom
Yes,but this LCD screen crystal pannel is exspensive, check the new LCD TV in the store first, see if worth repair the LCD Screen crystal pannel.Tries these websites.Tv Repair World.com,Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com or Partstore.com for the part.
In order to provide you with the correct part numbers, I will need the remainder of the model number. There should be a couple of numbers after the HX in the model number. Please post the entire model number here and I'll get the part numbers and cost.
Your best bet is to do a search of your model on ebay, you will likely find one being sold for parts, because usually it's the video boards that go out ij them. So you should find one without a broken screen, but something else on it broken. And if you want to save shipping you can ask the seller to send you just the screen and trash the rest.
Michael, my suggestion is that both units be scrapped. The plasma panel is broken the Dell and not cost effective to repair. If the inverter bds are missing in the Sharp, they were most pulled because the Sharp has a bad LCD panel. Not cost effective to fix either unit.
