SOURCE: I cannot get my Electrolux
I finally figured it out! The rack supports actually come out also. Not just the sliding supports, but the whole metal part with all the supports on it. At first I thought they were bolted in, but I read somewhere that they come out, too. Upon further investigation, I found the rack supports just slide into the side walls at 4 points. I had to use a little force to pull them out, but they came out and my oven is self-cleaning as I write this. I just thought I would share in case you or others haven't figured it out yet. Now I will just have to see how hard it is to get them back in....

I was getting the remove rack error until I finally figured out what it wanted me to remove. When you say you removed the rack supports, do you mean just the sliding parts or the whole side metal rack support? Push the racks all the way to the rear of the oven. Lift the rear of the rack to dislodge it from the side rail and pull it out.

Just had the same problem. As per El. help desk I replaced and re-removed the racks and turned oven off at breaker for 2 min - still the same problem. On a whim I briefly cleaned the four rack holder guides (with 409 and a terry cloth) and presto! it's cleaning as I type! Guess it was too long between cleanings and the grime itself triggered the sensors.

Hi friend, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that you are receiving a "remove racks" message on your Electrolux range. The oven racks and supports must be removed before the self-clean will initiate or the control will not allow the self-clean to turn on. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
