Re: Need locking latch for Remington Electric Chain saw
You've got the one version of the Remington Pole Chain saws that doesn't have a separate parts breakdown online.
However, here's a owners manual for your pole saw and a parts breakdown that can be used for most replacement parts, as the RPS-96 is a similar version of your model.

Remington Pole Saw Carbon Brushes
If you're Remington Pole Saw is slowing down, throwing sparks, or not starting you may need to replace the carbon brushes. Replacing brushes and cleaning commutator early can prevent damage to motor armature!

I bought this chain without first examining the "count" of my old chain. I found this new chain had 39 drive-links while my OLD chain had 40 links. My 10" Remington saw had enough chain-tensioning adjustment to compensate for that missing link and this new 39-link chain runs fine... cuts very well. Happy.

RemingtonPower is no longer in production, The "Coupling Nut" was replaced by a "Thumb Latch" neither of these nor the entire pole assembly are available. You might try this (no promises). http://store.poolcenter.com/shared/StoreFront/product_detail.asp?RowID=167966&CS=poolcenter&All Someone recommended using a hose clamp in place of the nut. I think these are band-aids and eventually you will need a part that cannot be found. We rarely get inquiries for McCulloch or Poulan electric units. Might be worth a look.
We are in no way connected with RemingtonPower. They are no longer in production and replacement parts are very difficult to find. Often eBay is your only source of parts. I can only suggest an Internet search for "Remington YourPartNumber". Does it make sense to invest more money in an obsolete item? Eventually a part you need will not be available. Invest in a name brand you expect to be around for at least 10 years. Name brand saws are better constructed than was Remington IMO, and need fewer parts over the long haul. Sorry. Lou
Have you contacted a local saw shop? With your chain as a pattern they can make a replacement in couple of minutes. Inquire by phone about a price you may be pleasantly surprised. Give them Oregon number 91VG040G (low kickback, most likely what your saw is fitted with). If you feel adept you might try a slightly more agressive chain but the odds of kick back increase. HTH

RemingtonPower has stopped production of everything except unhappy customers. Replacement parts are almost exhausted. I went here: Remington.com http://www.desaparts.com/index.htm

Click the 111182-01 - USE REPLACEMENT PART # 111304-01 "View Part" link.

I found an operator's manual but it doesn't include an IPL. I wasn't able to find any IPL for this item. I'd suggest you try the manufacturer here: Remington.com http://www.remingtonpowertools.com/find_manual.cgi HTH Lou
Without the model number, I can't provide you with the part. However, you can go to masterparts.net and click on the Remington chain saw link and with your model number, get a line drawing and list of all available repair parts and pricing.
They have almost all the parts for even most discontinued Remington chain and pole saws and have a toll free number you can call, once you have your model number to provide them with. 1-866-672-6040
Hope this helps and best regards!
According to the manufacturer... "Use SAE 30 motor oil for best results. (For temperatures below 30° F, use SAE 10. For temperatures above 75° F, use SAE 40.) DO NOT use Bar & Chain oil." So, I suggest for any Remington electric chains saw not to use bar and chain oil. I hope this helps...
