Question about Hitachi 60UX58B 60" Rear Projection Television
After unplugging I tried plugging back in. Lights went on for about 20 seconds in the back of the set and then off. I opened the back panel and it is very dusty inside. Can I use the same cleaner I use on the computer and would it do any good? Also, I've seen the postings regarding this with numbers listed, but don't have a diagram of the components inside the set. Can that be found anywhere because it's not in the owners manual.
You can get the parts from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix the following models (50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B). The kit includes the E994 pico fuse and the C707 capacitor.

A VERY common problem with this unit is a small blue disc cap C707 (102 @ 2kv) tucked in front of the horizontal output transistor. It usually has a small pin hole burned in it when it goes out. The cap is actaully part of the scan circuit and it changes in value over time and becomes unstable then opens, usually taking with it E994 a small pico fuse.
I wouldn't spray too much duster in there for all the dust it will create. You'll be dusting the house for days. But it won't hurt using a can of duster or air to blow it out if you want...

1. unplugged the power cord for 20 seconds (actually went a little longer)
2. Held down the # and 6 keys together and then plugged the power cord back in (still holding the keys).
3. held down # and 6 for about 10 more seconds after plugging the power cord back in and didn't get any messages but once and release them It was able to turn the power on.
The printer then printed an alignment page
hope it works, if so do rate the solution
