I started a load of laundry and went back in to unload and place in the dryer and the lid would not open....it is still locked... I then pressed the power button and nothing happened. I check the cord, the outlet and the circuit breaker and all is well. What could be the problem?

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.

Washer Dryer Stacked Combo won't start and didn't drain properly.

Hello Joshua, thank you for your post!
From my understanding your Frigidaire laundry center is not starting and did not drain properly. It is possible that this could be a miscommunication within the laundry center and a reset may help clear that out for you. In order to reset your laundry center you would need to disconnect power from it for at least ten minutes. If that does not help your laundry center you may need to seek assistance from a professional technician for proper repairs. I hope this is helpful and if you should need further assistance please feel free to reconnect. -Matt

Ran one load of laundry in washer, started another and the unit just beeps 3times and I push to reset but lid won't lock or start cycle. I tried moving dials to wake up machine but got no luck

My GE top loader has a little "finger" on the lid , when lid is closed it depress a switch inside a little hole , Now YOU with a wood pencil you turn machine on and press the little switch inside the hole, it may have dropped too low for the "plunger". the washer should start. now tighten the screws for that switch.

Frigidaire FFLE2022MW washer dryer combo beeps twice and stops during all washing cycles after it fills with water and lid is still locked. Does anyone know how to correct this? Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry, Criss Ard!

From my understanding you are having issues with your Frigidaire laundry center not starting a cycle. You stated that the washer fills with water then locks. It sounds like your timer is not advancing and that could be due to a faulty timer or wiring harness. You may want to perform a reset on your laundry center and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord for roughly ten minutes. If this troubleshooting step does not help resolve your issue you may want to consult with a professional technician for proper repairs. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Completely dead and lid is locked

Try an extension cord to another powerpoint. Place the drain hose in a bucket and slowly lower it to the floor, lift it up when the bucket is full, continue till the washer is empty or no more water will come out. Turn the washer off at thew wall and unplug it, wait a few minutes and plug it back in, this may reset the machine so it starts working again.
Hope this helps

My dryer is locked and I have a tub full of wet clothes. Sorry, can't find the manual how to fix.

If it's your washer that is locked, the manual suggests you press the START/PAUSE/UNLOCK button. It says the lid will unlock once the washer movement stops and it might take several minutes if it was spinning at a high speed. You can resume the cycle by pushing the Start/pause/unlock button again.
I really hope this is the answer you need. There is nothing more frustrating than a load of wet laundry. If this helps, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice. Thanks and good luck!

Hi Guys, I have a Whirlpool stackable washer model # LCP-4332-PQ1...I ran it for one load and it was fine...I unloaded it and went to get more laundry for another load...When I left, I left it...

Hi rcdrivertim,

I believe the problem is the Lid Switch. Find it here:
http://www.appliancecarestore.net/whirlpool-amp-kenmore-genuine-washer-lid-switch-.html

If the Lid switch does not work, the machine will not switch over to cycling, thus not work.

You could always test the Lid switch by switching the attached wires to continuity, also known as bridging.

Hope this helps :-)

If this answered solved your problem, please accept it. If it did not, please comment and I will help you further.

Whirlpool dryer does not start and beeps.......

Same problem here, however I can assist the start by rotating the drum while pushing start. May be a capacitor problem???

Need some help!

sounds like the lid open switch got stuck..check that with a chopstick or something like that, to ensure that it's not stuck. won't run if that switch is stuck in 'open ' position.
