Re: compaq keeps slowing up and keeps freezing

Try adding more RAM and making sure you are free of adware and spyware. Extra RAM will help your system speed up and allow you to run programs more smoothley

My compaq presario 5000 when i go on to the internet to sites like hulu crackle and youtube and try to watch a video it plays but is slow and skipping/freezing but the audio plays fine what wrong

It sounds like you are having a video card issue. Either that or the computer is running too many programs at once and causing it to run out of ram.

My pc.. desktop is very slow.. its a windows vista

You may want to look into upgrading your RAM if there is less than 2GB installed. This is a recommendation that I have found in working with several PC's running this Operating System. Also, you would want to run disk clean up and remove any temporary files that Windows finds. Deleting any other temporary or unused files from your PC on a regular basis should increase system performance. In addition, if these steps do not solve your problem, you may want to consider upgrading to a faster performance hard drive (preferably a SATA II with a 32MB cache). As a last resort, you may look at your CPU to see if there is an upgrade for it, as well. Keep in mind that Vista is a resource hog and can slow down a PC within just a short period of time.

Computer freezes must unplug to restart, what can I do?

The first thing I would do is check for Malware.
This type of infection causes computer slowness, freezing and sometimes rebooting.
You can get a Malware scanner for this from this link.
Download install and scan your PC. Follow the suggested removal for ay infections you find.

Microsoft applications off computer, computer keeps freezing

Not sure what you are asking for.

Computer freezing can be caused by a number of things. Does freezing occur somewhat randomly? Or only when you use a certain application?

My laptop freezes nearly every time I use it, and is slow to log on to the Internet

Okay, well that could mean a lot of things. First, of all how old is this laptop?..When was the last time you ran a disk cleanup?..Well the reason I asked you how old your laptop was, is because if your laptop is super old then, that's the reason why it is always freezing up. And I asked how long ago it was wen you ran a disk clean up, because in a lot of cases, when people's computers or laptops freeze up, is because they dont run disk clean ups often..and just let unnceccesary files continue to pile up on the computer. So if your computer is old and you never run disk clean ups this is why your laptop keeps freezing up. For example: an older person is walking along..and you give them a sack of potatoes to carry..ok obviously their going to walk every 5 minutes you give them another sack of potatoes. Wouldnt you think that the old person is going to have to stop every now and then and catch their breathe?. Ok, think of a computer like that. Well those are the two main things that came to my mind. Like I said, it could be a number of reasons your laptop is doing this. Hope this helps! :]

Freezing up

get a virus sweeping program, and see if there is a virus or worm hiding in the computer as these will drastically slow the computer down even with more ram.

You will probably need to stop some background programs to free up some RAM or you can always buy some more RAM memory.
