Walter,
Turn the unit off and unplug it for about 15 minutes. Then pulg it back in - power it up using the power button on the front of the unit then try changing channels, volume, ets with the remotes.

Should be a botton on your remote that changes that..like normal...Zoom..Full screen. And if your useing a antenna sometimes the pictures not as big as the screen. Try a hd video and see if it plays full screen
Are you running the audio through an amplifier? If so, it sounds like you are using the blue wire (power antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on). The power antenna remote turn on turns off when leaving tuner mode, turning the amp off.
If it is a regular coaxial antenna, you don't need to have a specific remote or code other than the controller that came with the TV. If you're talking about a cable box with an antenna, that will be different. You'll need to use a program code from a list on the remote's CBL device key to work the box.
A converter box for digital antenna transmission, on the other hand, needs its own unique remote to work, as far as I can remember.
hi you looking at 1400 for just the screen if you had your tv less than a year then you are covered for one year by sharp so what i would do is call sharp and see if your covered on cracked screens
One thing that comes to mind when you say high pitched sound is the HOT ( Horizontal Output Transistor). You may be able to find one at fry's electronics. They are pretty cheap. If you are handy and know something about electronics you may be able to replace it. I am not a TV tech, I have a background in electronics and like to play with them from time to time. Not sure this will help but good luck
thank you so much! that worked!
