I have a Western Digital Elements external HDD, and it says I have 130Gig of free space. When I try to copy over a 6Gig file, it says my drive is full.
Now, I have entered the Recycle Bin on the HDD and emptied it, there seem to be no errors on the drive. Help please!
Check the file system on your My Book. FAT32 has a file size limit of 4GB. I ran into the same problem when I tried to copy over a 4.5GB file from my laptop with NTFS on it. The file would not copy.

You need to run a virus scan, there could be some infection which is making it misread the amount of empty space and if the disk has several partitions are those partitions formated?

I deleted old files from FireLite 40 GB remote HD to make room for new backup. FireLite shows as empty using finder mode (Mac OS X 10.4.11). Backup program states the firelite has insufficient room. Therefore files must still be there in an invisable mode. How do i remove them?
i have the same thing. wierd that my file is also a 6gb(6.03) file that im trying to copy over. i scanned mine and nothing came back. i did not add any partitions to it when i got it, and it is formatted since i have backups already on it
Me too - trying copy over an 8 gig zip file - to an 80 gig WD external drive with 55 free gigs on it. It won't even try to copy the file.
