How do I adjust the clock when it's running slow?

If your cuckoo runs too fast or slow, the best way to correct this problem is to set your cuckoo to an accurate watch or clock. After 24 hours, record how many minutes your cuckoo is running too fast or slow. Then adjust the bob up or down the pendulum stick to change the pendulms effective length. You'll need to take an educated guess as to the distance. Reset the cuckoo minute hand time to your watch or clock again. Repeat this process every 24 hours, recording the results, and readjusting the bob until you are within 3 minutes of the correct time. Then, switch from recording every day to recording every week. Use the same process described, recording the time difference, adjusting the bob up or down every week, until the cuckoo is accurate within approximately 3 minutes per week. Remember, mechanical cuckoo clocks are not as accurate as quartz or electric clocks! A three minute error per week is not bad. Maybe you can do better. What you are attempting to do is to obtain is the best timekeeping possible from your cuckoo clock. Afterwards, you will still need to sychronize the cuckoo (coo coo) clock minute hand to an accurate clock or watch, each week or as desired.

Polaris grandfather clock runs slow need to adjust time up

You have to adjust the bob on pendulum. If the clock is slow, the bob on the rod must be pushed up. If the clock is fast, the bob must be pushed down. Do adjustments bit by bit, day by day till the clock is keeping time. If all this does not work, you may need to replace suspension spring (if there is any). If there are no suspension spring, the clock may need proffessional attention.

Why do my clocks run fast when my Briggs & Stratton 15kw generator is running?

Electric clocks use synchronized motors that run on 60 Hz AC. The power company provides AC power with a precisely regulated frequency of 60 Hz. That means that the voltage jumps back and forth (positive to negative) 60 times per second. Your generator would do the same thing if it could run at precisely 3600 rpm (that's rev's per minute) - but it can't, because the engine is not that precisely controlled. In your case it tends to run (on average) a little fast. I hope you found this helpful. By the way, in Europe 50 Hz is the norm. If you run a clock designed for 50 Hz on 60 Hz power, it will run 20% too fast! Al K

Re: Galleria / Metro Grandfather Clocck. W/ pendulum on lower hanger clock runs slow. W/ pendulum on upper hanger clock runs fast. How can I adjust so it will keep correct time, or should I take it to a...

Most grandfather/grandmother clocks have an adjustable screw on the weight to slightly extend it or shorten it to satisfy the equation of pendulum swing. the shorter the swing (arc distance) the faster the clock, the longer the swing the longer the time. Check to see if you can adjust the weight up or down on the hanger.

If it is a radio controlled clock and it is consistently out, then the hands need re-setting. I have hand a similar experience with my watch, so I fully understand the problem.

You can adjust the hand settings by pressing the right buttons!

If you have the instructions, then refer to the to adjust the hands. If you do not have the instruction, then go to the makers web site and look for manuals download.
